Kyle Archibald (Ungarie) and David Trotter (Lockhart) have been named in the 2003 AIS AFL Academy intake that was announced over the week-end.
Both players were part of the NSW/ACT U16 team which won division II of the AFL National U16 Championships held in Perth from July 27-August 2nd.
Both Archibald and Trotter were named among the 30 best young footballers in Australia who have been offered scholarships for the 2003 AIS AFL Academy Squad.
It is the sixth intake at the Academy.
The squad will receive personal and skill development over the next 12 months, gathering at various times for training programs including fitness, tactics, nutrition, injury prevention, time management and career planning under Head Coach Terry Wheeler.
Recent graduates of the Academy now playing league football include the likes of Cameron Ling, Josh Fraser, Chris Judd, Daniel Kerr and Luke Hodge. The selection panel was Terry Wheeler, AFL National Talent Manager Kevin Sheehan and AFL club recruiting managers Craig Cameron (Melbourne), Stephen Wells (Geelong) and Neville Stibbard (the Kangaroos).
