Thrilled a lot shorter than what was expected, that means Bateman will possibly be back for the Port Adelaide game and Hodge will be back for Bulldogs game perhaps the Melbourne one if were lucky.

The obvious question: Do those weeks include the All Star weekend?

None of Tuck, Murphy, Boyle or Moss have reduced from last week's list.

Strange... I had a chat to Tom Murphy late last week and he was confident he would recover in time to put his hand up for selection after the Tribute match. Hrm maybe they're just being conservative with him.
Beau Muston also said his recovery is coming along pretty well and is really looking forward to next year. Great to see he is still in high spirits.

Thanks for the update on injuries. Are there any posters with medical knowlege regarding Buddy's shoulder "looseness". Is this the type of injury likely to get worse, or just remain a niggle until repair?

I wouldn't risk Hodge for the Melbourne game if he is not quite right.

Realistically Hodge probably won't play until the Essendon game.

Even with one string, expect him to kick 8 against Essendon.

He should probably go into every game from now on with both shoulders heavily strapped (think similar to Judd). Judd had lots of shoulder problems in his pre-draft year.

LMR,

On what basis do you make the above comment? Is the Hammy not as bad as first thought?

haha funny...

Hodge will be back in round 10 because thats 4 weeks from round 7.

I hope they don't include him in the side in round 9. may aswell rest him for another week for safety. not to sound harsh and i know melbourne have just come off a win but we dont need him for that game.

so as i said better safe then sorry! PUT HIM IN ROUND 10 PLEASE!

i dont have any specific inside knowledge on buddys shoulder except for what i have seen first hand at the ground and replays on tv... it would appear he is just carrying an AC joint injury, which would tie in with the pain he experienced with the arm chop he got in the final minutes against richmond...

he doesnt look too restricted overhead which would suggest its not too bad, or that it was jabbed up well...

if its been reported otherwise then let me know...

'AC joint injury' Please elaborate my friend, is it a chronic injury?

Murphs surely would have some decent ligament damage or even a slight break to be out this long?

have a quick look here for some pics and furthe rinfo
http://www.injuryupdate.com.au/injuries/shoulder/a_c_joint_injuries.php

its not a chronic injury, and responds well to injecting and taping to get a player on the park... they normally recover in 4 to 6 weeks, more if constantly aggravated...

Youngy had bilateral AC joint strains for most of the year... caused by impact injuries to his shoulders... he was getting bilateral ACJ injections pregame for the second half of the year to get him thru the season...

unless u shatter a finger bone (phalanx) into a million pieces, a finger tendon injury is usually worse than an actual break... non-complicated breaks can be splinted and straped, injected and still be played with... (similar to crawf last year, altho he had a hand fracture, not a finger) and the long term function of the hand will still be ok... whereas pulling a finger tendon off the bone results in a variable degree of (permanent) loss of function. These cant be "fixed up later" and hence need to be fixed acutely, otherwise tendons contract over a short period of time, and therefore cannot be reattached later...

Im not sure what Murph has done... no doubt frustrating for him however, given he had just cracked the ones and was in ok form...

Look guys I just read up about his injury, even if he does aggravate he will only miss a few weeks will give us the opportunity to give Boyle/Thorp/Dowler another crack, which is on an upside. So long as the injury is not chronic we got nothing to worry about.

"3 or 3+ injuries to the A/C joint sometimes require surgery (which can keep a professional player out for 6-8 weeks) although some players may be able to return after a few weeks without surgery."

Good to see Bailey is going to be back shortly, hopefully he can break in for Senior Selection, his 205cm height will be very advantageous.
