Hey Guys,

I'm Rizzo and I've been given the mod duties for this board.

A bit of background:
Played all my junior football at Thomson, so I have a soft spot for them.
Also follow North Shore in the GFL.

Guidelines
* Obviously it gets a bit hairy when we talk about footy, but lets keep things on topic. People don't want to read slanging matches between two posters.

* General chit chat between posters should be kept to PM or MSN.

* Posting rumors is ok, as long as its football related ie: Player X is moving to St Josephs next year.

But refrain from posting Player Y is shagging player X's wife.

* If there is anything that breaks the forum rules, I'll edit your posts and send you a PM just outlining the reasons.

Feel free to argue your point with me, just don't get personal. It adds nothing to the argument.

* If you feel you are being harassed by certain posters, or have any issues at all, please PM me. If I can't sort them out then I will pass them on to someone who can!

* When you get a chance read this thread: Big Footy Ten Commandments. (http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/faq.php?faq=vb_board_usage#faq_forum_rules)

* Have fun discussing local footy! We have the best leagues in Geelong, so lets have the best discussion.

* Any other questions please post here and I will answer them!

What do u think about newtown?

Very average. Will make finals, but won't do anything.

Just a reminder to give the abuse / personal battles a bit of a rest.

As I said before, it adds nothing and I will delete it. Repeated offenders may get carded.

Newtown's make up is completely different from last year. They've got about a dozen new recruits, including a few juniors coming through, so they'll probably be inconsistent throughout the season as a result.

On paper, a pretty good side, one that should make finals.

your right newtown definatly a quaility team on paper but i think lack a bit of consistency i think they need a true leader to come through to the club although the team has shown very good potential and i thinkin the next 5 years a premiship is on the table if they can keep a strong squad develop the young ones coming through and continue to get players that are of great quailty but i satill think a stand out leader is needed, if newtown had all thier players for last year and thier current players i think they would deffinatly be a good contender for the premship this year any thought?

Newtown has a good run home and has an imposing record at home, so i don't think they're gone this season by any stretch.

However, it's very hard to pick who they will knock out. You would think the top six is almost set in stone and they've got to make up two games between now and the end of the season, at least.

yeah, imagine if they still had mcvilly, humm, lyons, betts, braddock

Bett would take a tonne of pressure and focus off verco,
the others through the midfield with mckeeken rucking, would be extremely tough to stop, also would help turn matt mcmahon into a very good midfielder with them helping him out.

will be interesting how many players arrive back at newtown after last year, and how many leave the club similar to last year.
