View Full Version : Our most disappointing players...

are costing us games week in week out.
Polak - having an absolutely crap year. Built like Tarzan, plays like Jane. Has ambitions to play forward, but cant kick. Should be dominating CHB but playing scared.
Joel Bowden - afl footy has passed him by. The style of game he plays - slow & sideways - doesn't suit our new improved game plan.
Hyde - not a very good player at all, really struggles.
Jake King - the kids all heart, but geez he does some dumb things.
Delidio - should be doing more. Should be taking the game by the scruff off the neck and tearing it apart. But he's not...why???
Tambling - is just no good.
McMahon - the new Tigers clanger king now that Tivendale has been permanently (hopefully) dropped.

Idiot! King is one of our better players who puts in 100% each week, he may make a few dumb decisions, he is only in his 2nd season of AFL football.
Deledio has been our best player in the past few weeks, he cant tear apart the game if he has no players to support him, im sure you would make a great coach if you dropped Deledio!
Tambling has been on the improve and is starting to show how good he can be, with sparks of brilliance becoming more apparent in games!
McMahon may be full of clangers but he wins the hard ball and racks up the disposals, each and every game, he makes run all the time, if you drop these 4 players you will see the richmond football club get pumped each and every game

I was saying Polak should have been dropped weeks ago.A bit unfair on Deledio.King is very frustrating because i love his attitude and guts but the fact is his mistakes are costly.I agree with Tambling.Very average player who will never reach any great heights.Mcmahon is terrible.Has a very casual attitude even when the heat is on.Cant understand where his head is at.

Yeah and Nathan Brown should retire, that kick he did today which went straight to a Geelong players was a disgrace.
Thursfield hasnt this guy heard of muscle ? What a bean pole get rid of him too
Morton, wow talk about a nobody, done nothing today proved he cant handle it against the best in the comp, sack him too.
Jack what a brain fade this kid is, did nothing today except a few special things, but thats not good enough he should be kicking 10 every week.
And Kel Moore's a ranga. Out you go mateo.

should just get rid of the whole team because they dont win each week by over 20 goals
Despite the fact I think we are playing okay and have done for the most of the past 4 weeks. I reckon TT has a point on most of the players.
Polak - not doing enough
Bowden - the Adem Yze of Richmond
Hyde - has to play like his career is on the line every week to be passable at AFL level.
Tambling - looks the goods, then drops away - reminds me of poor man Daniel Wells
Deledio - just doesn't look like he is developing as quickly as other no 1's like Murphy and Cooney. Still a very good player but is he an absolute top shelfer? Time is ticking...
Mcmahon - He plays okay most of the time but his mistakes are horrendous, would be the last surgeon I would pick for a heart transplant
I would leave Jake King alone - he has been very good for us.
With the exception of Hyde and possibly Delids, I love watching all of the these players but TT is right. They are not doing enough and could be the difference between 10 points and 18.

Agree on some, but not on all.
Kingy's one of the few guys having a crack every game.
Kingy and Newy always desreve a place through sheer work, whether the ____ up or not.
Bowden's gone.
Hyde's gone.
Lid's career is being killed by leaving him in the forward line. He's slowly suffocating. Lid's is better than that.
Polak's job is to take the big grabs as an opportunist big man, nothing more, and he does that.
Jordy's job is to be a lightweight, little link man, nothing more, and he does that.
Johnson is a skirt who turns the ball over, and handballs himself out of trouble. And what's with this 'hand-ball/over the head 'throw' that he's mastered now. What a captain cat!!
Again, we see the likes of Kingy and Foley, and now Cotchin take to Senior football quickly.......so what's Bling's excuse? Watched him again at the 'G' wander around lost, half tackle with one arm, motor down defensively, duck his head to get a kick, not being able to take a mark with his hands above his head, get brushed away from packs and AGAIN he'll get a game next week.
Tambling's average and rubbish......we should save us the time now. He's not progressing at the same pace of anyone in the Seniors.

Deledio does not waste a possesion, king is in his second year, we improved by over 120 points against the best team in the comp, and you wnat to criticise......get a life or start supporting the tankers.
BTW did anyone else notice the geelong players every time they are tackled they clutch thei heads as if they have been shot.....what a bunch of actors

When did I ask for miracles?
It is clear where those players are at, I'm just stating the obvious. As I opened with, as a team we're playing good competitive footy.
I'm not expecting much more from any of those players just yet but if we want to beat top 4 sides down the track some of them aren't good enough and others will need to improve - being a young, developing type only works for so long.
Look at the wins and losses - its a fact.
I'm not complaining about our win loss ratio just yet but we need a couple of wins over the next month to prove we are more than just competitive.

And we'll get them. I expect us to win at least three of our next six. Anything less than three and I'll be an unhappy camper.

Polak and hyde should both be under pressure to hold their spots....as a forward Polly cant kick goals and we all know he cant defend, we need to share his chances amongst Hughes and sarge
Hyde is an honest toiler however Jacko can do the same whilst add something positive, quicker, better mark and kick, FFS play him
or alternately give collins or connors a game

As some other posters have said, we are improving but some players are letting the team down in crucial circumstances, and that's the difference between winning and losing in a tough competition like afl.
As long as they learn from it, they will progress.
But I'm not impressed with Polak - he should be doing a lot more. He looks like he's playing scared, and his kicking is very ordinary. A player of his size should be tearing games apart like Glen Jackovich did from CHB. Perhaps it's a confidence issue.
Hyde is a toiler and I'm not sure on his future.
Bowden I have never been a big fan of - looks slow, lazy and goes sideways. The games passed him by.
King will be a player.
McMahon - I don't know why we need a player like him.
We should just quit the AFL. Clearly we aren't up to AFL standards.

Yeah, Deledio and Tambling are useless aren't they? For two mature bodied, experienced, 25 year-olds.....oh, hang on.....

exactly. we are still an extremely young team! we cant expect to work miracles let alone beat a team that won in the grand final by a record margin of 119pts! I am extremely happy that we held off geelong taking the lead until the third quarter. A relative of mine has said that in 2 or 3 years we MIGHT have a geelong-like list. We are promising.

Rather than looking at individuals, I look at it like this;
2007 - won 3, drawn 1, lost the rest. Awful year, not much to come out of it except experience for some of the younger guys and the return of Brown.
2008 (round 8) - won 2, drawn 1, at least 2 more to come. Provided we get those 2 wins (I'm not a big fan at all of coming out and saying we'll beat Essendon and Melbourne) we would have gone forward as a team.
Our list surprises a lot of non-Richmond supporters and definitely doesn't warrant a wooden spoon. Of our current team (22 from yest) these are the players I feel are past their prime;
Bowden - probably doesn't have much to offer on the field in terms of winning games but a bloke like him is invaluable to the club in the work he does with the cubs.
Suga - has been very good this year but not one for the future I feel.
The next group of guys I feel are probably not going to get any better but still have more to offer over the next few years.
Richo
Brown
Polak
Tuck
Simmonds
McMahon
Newman
Which leaves; King, Lids, Moore, Foley, Cotch, Tambling, White, Morton, McGuane, Thurs, Shedwards, Hyde, Riewoldt.
Of those names, only Moore and Hyde I feel shouldn't get a game in a team that will play finals. If you add guys that could come in for a game (Raines + others), if the boys keep improving the way they are, there are big things ahead.

The Polak bashing is interesting - got 19 possessions yesterday (9 contested) , 10 marks, (3 contested), 2 one percenters and some tackles.
Pretty good for a big fella in those conditions - alternated with Richo in the Richo role and relieved Simmo in the ruck.
Dont know what some of you guys smoke some times!

One way to look at it. Another is that he got smashed in the ruck and only managed 3 hitouts. Missed a shot at goal which was directly in front from inside 50. Average game IMO.
