"WE LOVE BEANIE" poster for Jake

I was wondering who u girls were referring to with all the 'beanie' references over the past few days/weeks/months. :p

I'll stick to calling him 'caravans', much cleverer. :D

The footy god's aren't being too generous are they... ironically they interviewed Tadgh before in regards to our 'formidable' running back trio...

How scary would've the final scoreline be if we actually kicked accurately..

Def helps our %'s..

Could've been a 120+ diff if the boys didn't fall asleep in the second quarter..

Back from the game. One word for it all: FREEZING!

Other than that, I enjoyed the game. Any news on Tadhg's injury?

Missed the first quarter because of the absolutely atrocious traffic outside the ground. Usually it takes around 30-40mins to get there from my house, but today it took an hour and a half.

Got there 5 minutes into the quarter, saw that we kicked 4.5, and at half time thought we were in for a really crappy win that if we played against any other team, we'd get smashed.

Luckily our second half was fantastic. Will happily eat my words in regards to Playfair. Had a great game. As did pretty much everyone, actually. Atleast, in the second half.

? It was bright and sunny for the whole of the reserves and at least 1 half of the seniors. Well maybe it depended on where you were sitting, but it was not the doom and gloom predicted by the meteorologists.

Good win in the end, but for a while I was very worried. Playfiar and Micky O stood up up forward, and Kirk and Goodes in the middle.

Dont know what to make of it really. Glad we got a win, but not so happy with the performance. If we were playing a team in the 8 i dont think we would have been so lucky.
Honestly our shots on goal have to improve, over use of the ball needs to be addressed, frees against are to much, and for a team that loves stoppages we need to win alot more clearances. Was so frustrating watching our mids be second to the ball, if we were playing quality opposition we wouldve been destroyed.
Spewing about Kennelly..

Yeah, Margaret and I were on the end that was under shade for the whole of game. Froze my ass off =S

I went craaazy with the goals at then end, 9.2 - that's more like it, but the way we fumbled .. i laughed, but if it was against a stronger opposition i shudder (not with cold) to think what would've happened.

Tiger going down was heartbreaking. Apparently he tried to pop it back in before someone got there :(

The reserves game was fine. But halfway through the seniors it was cold. The wind combined with the shade wasn't good. Froze my arse off. :(

I think the scoreline is a little misleading.

The first half was absolute crap from both sides.

The second half was very good. We got our hands on the ball first, but the skill and decision making was not really that great IMO.

I know I should be happy with the big margin, but it just doesn't feel like an impressive win.

I agree. This is what I told my sister after the game. I would usually be elated after a huge thumping but at the back of my mind, we weren't playing good footy to make it an impressive win.

At times our skills were really ordinary. I remember on countless occasions where our players would drop the ball they were holding (MOL, Goodes, Moore and Buchanan are the ones I remember).

Decision making is still awful. I still see a few of the guys kicking it down the throats of the opposition.

The weather during the reserves game was good, but the seniors was awful. I've been sick all week and I think sitting out in the cold and breathing in the cold air has made me worse. I feel really bad now. Oh well.

Quoted for truth. The first half was some of the most insipid, error-ridden football I've ever seen. Second half could not have been more different, a real Jekyll and Hyde day.

from halfway through the third term we put on a show. Essendon were tough for a qtr and half but they have a lot of work to do and the rebuilding line is one thing but some of their baby's totally stopped and watched proceedings in the last term.

Must say I was happy with Playfair. He was prepared to do the hard work to put himself in good marking spots and really concentrated on his kicking. A second marking target up forward and it proved so beneficial to MOK.

Very unsung for us today was C Bolton. Beat his man and led the defence really well all day.

And most of all how good was it to see Mal get through the game, he sholud keep getting better.

I agree Jaymee.

I think with the display we put on in the first half we probably would have been in a lot of trouble against at least 9-10 other teams in the competition. We can't afford to play that way against port next week.

I agree. This is what's worrying me. Essendon pretty much pressured us all around the grounds, and when we caught them napping, we basically ran them over. Note to Swans: many teams in the competition don't sleep during the game, we better get our skills and decision making work up. On countless occasions do we see the Swans muck with the ball, and kick awfully.

Also, I think our midfield needs a bit of work.

And also, we need to work on our accuracy for goal kicking, though it has been much better than our woeful display against WBD.

That was Sydney football all around. We closed in the first half, went in hard at every contest, refused to allow them a loose man option outside their own 50 even at the cost of clogging our own forward line at times and gave them nothing. We then outlasted them with our harder bodied players and superior fitness and steamrollered them in that last 45mins of footy.

Really, if our finishing in the first half had been up to par we could have won that one by 100pts+. And controversies aside, if our finishing was at the 55%+ standard that it should be at this level, we could easily be sitting on 7 wins right now.
