I don't think he ws reported, but he will get points. Will it be a reprimand or a week?

0 weeks. Reprimand if he's unlucky.
Nothing in it IMO.
He can easily argue that his eyes were on the ball at all times, and was going for the ball only, that can be supported by the video evidence available - if it got that far.

As far as i am concerened it will be thrown out the window...

Both players had thier eyes on the ball.

Both players slung there body at the ball.

Both players had no intension of hitting each other. (Well high anyway)

Personally i believe Rosa was just unlucky to hit him how he did

My apologies...

I thought this thread was about Rosa's impending charges from the police. Charged with impersonating a footballler and charged with fraud.

God people on here over-react. Rosa is not that bad - yes his disposal let's him down at times but everything else about his game is just fine the way it is. He needs to improve his kicking but I do not have a problem with Rosa. At one stage tonight he was playing down back! Rosa! Down Back!

He is being played wherever they need someone but that's not his role - that's more of Embley and Nicoski's thing. Matt isn't exactly going to star if he is being played like that - it's clear he is an outside mid/wingman. I've been saying this for ages but everyone just expects the guy to be good, everywhere. Unrealistic.

Yep he needs to improve areas of his game, not debating that but sometimes, especially in seasons like this, there's not a lot he can do (well) when he is being played out of position - hardly his fault. I love it how because we've been blessed for so long, every player now has to be the next Ben Cousins or the next Judd or the next Kerr or even Priddis etc.

I especially love that one or two people on BF decide Rosa shouldn't be in the best 22, and then just like sheep, everyone else decides he is crap too and start hassling the bloke without giving him ANY credit for anything he does. I can deal with one eyed fans but being so one eyed about a player from the team you supposedly support in a negative way, is nothing short of idiotic and imo is utterly ridiculous - the guy doesn't deserve half the amount of criticism he gets on here let alone all of it. I'm suprised Fletcher and Staker got some credit from one or two posters for good games tonight because those two along with Rosa seem to be the harshly dealt with scapegoats on this board.

Sorry for the rant but sometimes reading that kind of thing sh!ts me to tears.

Mate just leave the bloke alone. Of course hes no Benny Cousins or Chris Judd but he contributes to the team when alot dont.
I think he gets treated unfairly on bf.

No one is expecting that some of us just get sick of watching a guy kick a ball into a now functioning forward line giving forwards no chance, as well as watching him over and over again turn the ball over and kick straight to the opposition.

Has Rosa ever broken a tackle in his life? I've never seen him break one, but he takes the tacklers on all the time as though he has never been caught.

I reckon he's going to cop something - just saw it again this morning. The punch was nowhere near the ball.

Absolutely correct.

He was very ordinary again last night. Does his best work in blowout games - either up or down, as long as the pressure is reduced by a large gap on the scoreboard he is handy.

Last night he (a) continually took on players and got caught or (b) stopped (on a mark) when he should have run and (c) kicked or handballed poorly. So its his decision making and his skills that are deficient. Add to that he is an outside mid with zero pace. At this stage he is and projects as (at best) a poor mans Michael Braun (when Braun was good).

He can't break a tackle, makes poor decisions, executes his skills badly and can't break a line (one paced) to save himself. Crab.

Last night we had 3 guys who scared me everytime they got the ball - Rosa, Nicoski and Graham (well Graham scared me because he may actually be the slowest player in the AFL but you get the point). At various stages, we had these 3 turnover terrors all in our back half, strangely this turned out badly and they were responsible for several opposition goals.

Rosa is a squad player, a Josh Wooden (without pace) or a Steven Armstrong - probably a great bloke but not an outside mid in a good side.

Wasnt his best game tonight but the fact we are mentioning the words Matt Rosa and hit in the same sentence shows hes moving in the right direction. Once he gets the upper body strength that Andrew Embley has he wll be fine. People forget that Rosa is the ultimate project player. Still has alot of improvement left

I laughed at the first sentence :thumbsu:

Why is Rosa "the ultimate project player"?

I understand a Notte being that i.e. weird body shape/size but amazing skills and the payoff would be huge IF he develops but whats the argument for Rosa? I mean we used a second round pick (late 20's) on a tallish, outside mid who had average skills and was one paced. He is what he is. I mean project players are those freaky types who have huge upside IF IF IF.....

Dean Cox was a project player. Tom Williams at the Bulldogs is a project player. Darryl White was a project player, Jared Brennan - i.e guys with a very high ceiling but very very raw with clear weaknesses to overcome. Rosa was an ordinary outside mid - still is - and that seems his ceiling.

Why cant a midfielder be a project player. For some reason peiple thing it only applies to KPP and ruckmen. For a midfielder he came to the club very skinny and was brought over for his athleticism more then his football genius. I think nowadays his disposal is good hes put on some KGs but not enough and his athleticism is still there and getting him by. Once we teach him how to play football his speed and hard running will begin to show. Im willing to be more patient then everyone else is

His athleticsm and speed??????

I would have thought he lacked both. He seems more the "long distance runner" type to me - good to elite endurance but lacks real line-breaking speed.

He just strikes me as a bog ordinary midfielder, the dime a dozen type that you plug into a role and tell them to run. Nothing wrong with that provided they arent turnover prone - and at present he is.

Nick Nat would be my midfielder project. Would love to see him turned into the modern day Kouta. Large, strong, quick midfielder. Imagine him in 3 years at 100-105kg in a midfield with Cox rucking, Kerr, Masten & NickNat the 196cm ruck rover. A bit like the Jonno Brown in the centre square that Brisbane did a couple of years back (to great effect before Brown's body decided it couldnt cope).

Nick Nat will probably grow to be 200cm. We could do a Richo but itd be bit of a waste. Why make a project when you can nail a dead set certainty like Rich

Its like going to school and the teacher coming over to you saying. I can give you a A- now or ill give you this test and you can go for a A+. Take the A- every time

I would take Rich also (have said so elsewhere). That said, NickNat as a midfielder would be an intriguing project.

Would be fun when Freo were deciding which sniper to send to him (Carr or Crowley) :D

They could decide this year. Shouldnt be too long till Carrs playing against Natainui in the WAFL

Totally agree. Didnt play his best game last night but still was the equal top player in contested possesions which is something we really need without cuz and judd and no kerr.

Yes he did get caught with the ball a few times but id rather him try to create something then handball back to a stationary player...

I didn't see anything in the game that thought would warrant a suspension. Getting a week here and there for minor crap is kinda stupid, we had a small defender get a week for going to spoil the ball in a marking contest against the opposition ruckman. Game is getting incredibly soft.

A reprimand it is http://www.foxsports.com.au/story/0,8659,23723405-23211,00.html

Eagle Matt Rosa was charged with a level-two striking offence on Kangaroo Matt Campbell, but can accept a reprimand.

and I am pleased it was only a reprimand, he was very good last night. I am happy to have a go at him when he stuffs up, and happy to praise him when he does well, as he did last night.

A little while ago, I think it was Voss who wrote an article about St Kilda saying that all the players there wanted to be the star, and no-one would do the hard team things needed for success. I reckon that is Rosa's problem, he wants to be the star. If he plays within his limitations, as he did last night, he can be a very valuable player for us.

Hopefully Im wrong next week, and the week after, and the week after...
