View Full Version : Expansion New Afl Team! Obvious solution

There has been discussion of how a new AFL team will affect the draw, drafting etc...

No one seems to have raised this as a possibility:

WHY DOESN'T THE GOLD COAST REPLACE FREMANTLE!

We can keep the comp to 16 teams for the time being, the gold coast can take any Fremantle players instead of getting drafting concessions (maybe Pavlich, Sandilands, Palmer, Ibbotson?)

Problem solved! there is a saying "no point throwing good money after bad" - maybe this applies with Freo, cut the losses now!

the new team will still require draft concessions purely based on the fact of how bad fremantles list really is

People dont get it. It doesnt matter if on field the team is rabble like freo, because freo are financially stable and without them the AFL would loose big time in the WA market.

An obvious solution would be to say to the Roos, move to GC or else we will revoke your licence and you will fold completely.

Say the same to Bulldogs (are they still in financial do-do?) to move to West Sydney (Assuming they are still in do-do) that way the talent pool doesnt get thinned out, no concessions needed in terms of player acquisition.

Maybe the Hawks could be forced to move to Tassy aswell for 8/11 home games with the other 3 being at the MCG.

Pretty poor attempt at a joke.

At least post it in Bay 13.

We have more money and more supporters than you do. The only change I can see happening in the next 3 years in the current AFL clubs, is Port Power changing their mascot from a lightning bolt to a noose and becoming the Port Chokers

The AFL obviously made a mistake and are now too stubborn to admit it!
I think as a minimum Fremantle should be made to change their colours and re-vamp their image! It is a disgrace to the game. Absolutely shameful

Although the power are perceived as chokers they have still won a premiership in 2004! (in which they won 3 times as many finals that year as fremantle has in 13 years of existence) They also have 2 Pre-Season cups, 3 McLelland Trohpies, and numerous finals appearances!

lets focus on the real problem of Fremantle. I actualy don't mind the club, I want to see them win, but enough is enough

Pretty piss poor effort pavilion. Your team's 1 point brown undies time escape was weeks ago. Time to get over it.

A Geelong supporter from Adelaide who joined Sept 07.

Yep, you've got a lot of credibility mate.

In that case the Cats should've gone in 1980...

Ok can I ask an honest question please?

Fremantle supporters, I admit this is a stupid thread! I know your club is a powerhouse off field and that there obviously needs to be a second club in WA!

But.... aren't you all completely fed up with it? Wouldn't you rather Fremantle scrapped its old players that is recruited, have a massive review... and possibly revamp its image with a change of colours and club song? Don't you think drastic measures are needed. The culture is just rubbish

I class this post as a solid effort in attempting to regain the 'most obnoxious and arrogant team supporters' award from the Hawthorn fans, but sadly for you there are just too few of your fellows coming to the party, so you still lag behind.

What would you know of the passion of our supporters?

Where were you thinking you know best and handing out all this advice when your team went over 40 years with out a flag?

Just piss off already you arrogant frontrunner.

Then why do you have to sell your home games to Tassie? Not a snipe, a serious question. If you are doing better than we are, why sell your games?

We don't have to... but why would any business in its right mind, not look at expanding into foreign markets? A business that sits back and is content with doing the bare minimum financially, is always the first to go under.

Gee , let's poke fun at the team that came closest to stopping the undefeated runs of not one but two undeafeated teams .

My god, Geelong FINALLY win a flag after 40 something years and here you go talking about other clubs.

When Geelong win as many flags as Carlton then you can pass judgement on who deserves to be in the AFL.

Here come the Hawks supporters, you HAD to sell your games to Tassie.

If you remember several years ago, Hawthorn and Melbourne were going to merge. Don Scott put up a good fight and the hawks implemented strategies to make them financially viable (Selling games to Tassie was one of these).
