Interview: Peter Hudson

With Hawthorn hosting Port Adelaide at York Park in Launceston in round eight it was fitting Grandstand should catch up with one of the greatest ever Hawks and arguably the most talented player to come out of Tasmania, Peter Hudson.

Hudson was a prolific goal kicker for the Hawks during his nine years with the club, kicking more than 100 majors in five separate seasons and winning the Coleman Medal on four occasions.

He famously equalled Bob Pratt's record of 150 goals in a season during the 1971 grand final and registered a total of 727 during his glittering stint with the Hawks.

Hudson began his senior career in the Apple Isle with New Norfolk before later playing with Glenorchy and he remains an ardent supporter of the code in Tasmania, acting as an ambassador of sorts for the state's push to secure an AFL franchise.

He spoke with Grandstand's Gerard Whateley, Drew Morphett, Stan Alves and Mark Maclure about the likelihood of a permanent team being based in Tasmania while also reflecting on his playing days with the Hawks.
