DECORATED Shane Crawford and tough midfielder Ben McGlynn are the latest casualties of unbeaten Hawthorn's unwavering physical approach this season.
Crawford, forced to sit out the opening three rounds through suspension, now must wait another week before he can play the four games he needs to reach the 300-game milestone.
The AFL match review panel yesterday slapped Crawford, the 1999 Brownlow medallist and four-time club best-and-fairest, with a one-game suspension for an off-the-ball strike to Port Adelaide ruckman Dean Brogan's midriff in Launceston on Saturday.
McGlynn is the latest victim of a crackdown on front-on bumps, facing a three-match ban for rough conduct against Power onballer Kane Cornes.
Four Hawks have been suspended in the first eight rounds, but the club said last week the loss of key personnel wouldn't stop its attack on the ball and ball-carrier.
Past misdemeanours mean Crawford and McGlynn must argue successfully at the AFL Tribunal tonight to play against Melbourne on Sunday.
North Melbourne forward Brent Harvey is clear to become the eighth Roo to play 250 games after a match-day tripping charge was thrown out during yesterday's video review.
Port is expected to challenge a three-game penalty to ace onballer Shaun Burgoyne for a rough conduct offence that saw Hawk Sam Mitchell carried off on a stretcher.
Mitchell, who returned after the first-quarter incident to play out the game, gave Burgoyne hope of a reprieve.
"I have seen it on footage and I was just unlucky. It was just one of the things. I turned that way and he just clipped me. I don't think it was very hard," Mitchell said yesterday.
West Coast's Matt Rosa can accept a reprimand for striking North Melbourne's Matt Campbell; Bulldog Tom Williams and Docker Dean Solomon were fined $900 and $1800 respectively for wrestling each other; and Essendon's Kyle Reimers copped a $1950 penalty for colliding with field umpire Michael Avon.

Glen Archer stated on FC last night that he thought Hawks should def challeng McG's ban. Reckoned there was nothing else he could do and that he was committed before Cornes went to ground, making contact to head unavoidable.

As for our 'tough' style I would like to reiterate from previous posts that the Club is foolish for advertising our 'tough' style as all it does is invite 50m pens and suspensions.
