What do you think of Dean Laidley's comments ?
Good for North ?
Good for footy on the Gold Coast ?
Good for the AFL ?
Or just plain stupid ? :o
Given that most of the crowd were their Melbourne die-hard fans which flew up for the game, this is a pretty crap thing to say to them.
And I'm sure they wouldn't have said this if they had have accepted the Gold Coast offer.

All 3 games are underwritten by the AFL, which means there $1.2 mil for 3 games is assured regardless of crowd. In the circumstances that have transpired since late last year, why should they care if nil crowd turned up?

my question is, who do these comments benefit ?
should he have just kept his big trap shut ?
and will the AFL try to fine him for it like they do every other comment which is aimed at them by coaches and players ?

I don't think either side in this battle between the AFL and Norths is entirely blameless, so the AFL would only be fanning the flames and dousing a fire with petrol if they took issue with some bad press courtesy of Norths.

True, they should not have been aired in the media, but its exactly what everybody was thinking anyway.
Some people didn't show up because they felt it was getting back at us for not agreeing to capitulate when in reality we lose nothing and the only losers are the AFL and the QAFL who underwrite the games.
This has all been a fault of the GC media who have taken every opportunity to overly dramatise the issue. We don't hate the GC, we just don't want to abandon our roots and our heritage, is that such a foreign concept to these people?
We offered co-location, we were rejected, not the Gold Coast. They rejected the best offer any club has given them yet rather than try and promote and build up support for football in their region they choose to antagonise and alienate the ONLY club that has given two shits about playing any real amount of home games there.
So while these bitter twisted morons rather hold a grudge despite us holding out has resulted in them getting a team of their own with no foreign baggage, they rather not follow or support football in their region and give more of a head start to the Titans.
For me, all I have ever seen come out of the Gold Coast is whining, demands and attention seeking morons. If anyone up there had any stones they would at least go to the games and support whoever we are playing.

Said to protect the Kangaroos' ego but stupid nevertheless. While the kangaroos are not going to have a long-term presence on the Gold Coast, they still could have used that opportunity to build a few more supporters. This commentators about not giving a stuff don't win them any friends.
