View Full Version : Ins and Outs compared to ROUND ONE
Leather Poisoning
20 May 2008, 14:21
The teams have changed a little from round 1 when we last played melbourne. With our current injuries I'm not too sure of all the ins, and I'm only going from the afl site for Melbourne's injuries. Feel free to modify:
Hawthorn
Ins:
Mark Williams
Campbell Brown
Jordan Lewis
???
???
Outs:
Tom Murphy
Brent Guerra
Cam Stokes
Tucky
Boyle
Melbourne
Ins
Rivers?
Wonameeri (sp)
???
???
Outs
Neitz
Newton
Yze
Pettard
Anyway, considering we beat them by 100 points last time, anyone else think this is a weird article?

Bruce is a smart individual but that wasn't one of his smartest comments. Maybe he's been concussed a few too many times?
IF Melbourne were in some good form, then the article might have some merit.
Edit - He doesn't actually say anything about Melbourne having the edge, just that they'll benefit from playing us again so soon and it'll help their development.

the 3 players that i was hoping to come in are injured, stokes,kennedy,tuck..
but those ins from last time are very good ins, brown,lewis,williams..
cant see the dees getting close with the last rounds come from behind win and with all the fuss over willos gesture the hawks will come out firing and to put to bed of any thoughts the players were being over confidant or cocky..
this will be my 1st game for the year so just cant wait to go....

Not sure I see how another possible 100 point loss can help development???
I don't like underestimating opposition but am I fair in saying that would be a near miracle for them to get within 40-50 points?

It'll give them enough info on how much work they need to do to get to the levels of us, Adelaide and Geelong. Rather have the kids play the best sides going around than playing the midtable and lower teams is more his point. Especially playing us twice in 9 weeks would give them heaps to work with.
Although, in saying that, beltings hasn't really helped Richmond and Carlton all too much!

I am tempted not to go to the match, because I'd feel sorry for if we flogged them by 100+ points, all-in-all it would be great for % but I'd rather a close game were they at least can put up a fight throughout the whole game and not slack off cause they believe the game is already over. In round 1, I could barely sing the song at the final siren, this is probably because the Melbourne FC are so noble, they aren't cocky, full of themselves or a bunch of show-offs, however with other teams that are more flamboyant I can sing with a full voice as I feel they deserve it. Thanks to the media I probably feel sympathetic to the Melbourne FC, but I hope at the least they can put up a fight.

I just feel sorry for them, their skipper just retired, their list still is a fair way off from finals contention. I guess should probably harden the **** up (Chopper Quote), but yeah, I'd rather thrash a team like Collingwood than a team like Melbourne that have been struggling for years..

Hawthorn were struggling for years while the demons were playing finals...
every club has its turn to rise and fall from grase, now its our turn to rise and their turn to fall.

Yze set for Demons return
Melbourne coach Dean Bailey has hinted veteran forward Adam Yze might return to the side this weekend.
He says his team has a lot to prove when it takes on ladder leaders Hawthorn this weekend.
<snip>
Bailey says this weekend's match will be a good opportunity for his players to show they have improved.
"Clubs will be examining ways of trying to get through the 'cluster' and 'Buddy's (Lance Franklin) Box' and (Jarryd) 'Roughheads Rhombus', and whatever else they've got there," he said.
"They are in very good form and would be in most peoples eyes one of the flag favourites."
