Eight rounds down, who do you believe is in AA contention from the HFC. If the 22 were to be picked tomorrow, which Hawks would most likely get a place.
These are my views and others will have theirs, but a number of Hawks are a chance at the moment.
C Bateman - dominating in the middle with his dash and carry, attracting media attention (a good sign).
C Brown - small defender, started slowly but now in fine form as his past fornight shows.
B Sewell - gun. Finally be recognised widely and a monty at this stage.
L Franklin - best player in the league at the moment.
S Mitchell - dominating in the centre, deserves his first AA guernsey.
T Croad - many would be shocked, but if he continues his current form why not? Has some big scalps including J Brown and T Cloke.
Mitchell Madness

Mitchell - been a star this season, a real stand out
Campbell - Best ruck in the comp, leads the comp for %hitout to advantage
Sewell - ANother star, team lifter
Franklin - Its buddy FFS!
Roughead - Been great playing up forward and 2nd fiddle to buddy.
Osborne - If Johnson can get a nod after missing a quarter of the season last year, osborne who has been the best small forward/utility deserves one.
slim chance
Hodge - Injury and early season suspension (carry-over) might have him miss
Croad - very solid at CHB, but as the AA is selected by media-reps and past-players, big chance he will miss out, we have "no defence" and "no defenders" apparently

Mitchell without a doubt. Has won several games off his own boot.
Sewell - Mr Consistent AND Mr match turner. Lower profile means he'd probably only get named on the bench.
Clarko - Tactics have been debated, challenged and as yet undefeated.
Croady - good call. Seems quicker than last year. Got quite a few inside 50s this week - if he keeps that up he'll get there. Rutten has been beaten a couple of times, Scarlett would most likely get one of the top defensive posts. Bock is reputed to be in AA form, but looked a bit ordinary when we played. Thurstons could also be a contender.
Bateman - only had one quiet game. Not many genuine wingmen in the comp so this could see him named. Richo probably on the other wing, playing great this season. Corey is a walkup start, but whether they put him on a wing or not.....
Roughy - not sure on this one. On sheer weight of goals could be named as a specialist second forward, but most likely the forward line would be Fevola, Buddy, OKeefe, Bradshaw, Pavlich, Burton? Roughy has had a great year, but the decision makers would pick others ahead of him.
Browny - put him in there - he's a legend. There aren't many genuine back pockets anymore. Who has beaten him so far this season?
Hodge - hasn't played enough games, imo. Averaging 21 touches a game which probably isn't all-australian midfielder level.
Roughie

Franklin
Mitchell
Sewell
Brown
Croad will probably miss out because theyll find away to put Bolton in the team ahead of him.

Well beaten by Bradshaw, but that was always going to be a mismatch.
For me:
Mitchell
Sewell
Buddy
C Brown
Croad
Outsiders:
Bateman
Birchall
Hodge to miss out from suspension and injuries, but if he comes back and smashes the 2nd half of the season and finals then I'd have him in AA contention.

Good list. Obviously not all will make it.
Not shocked about Croad at all. Disregarding number of games played so far, I would definitely have him in. Conceivably could have got the nod last year too.
Contenders
Franklin
Croad

Is the Coleman medallist still the automatic selection for FF?
I couldn't care less if we had no AA, like Collingwood the other year. If we win the premiership that's all that matters.
Contenders would probably only be Mitchell, Sewell and Franklin at the moment.
I think it's a positive that we don't have many standouts because we a re sharing the load so well.
Probably a harder job would be to pick the top 5 in our B&F at the moment.

Generally who ever wins the Coleman will be either the FF or CHF for the AA team, so unless Buddy gets injured or does a Barry Hall I don't see why he cannot make it.

I would have to say:
Sewell
Franklin
Mitchell
Brown all reasonable certainties
Roughie, Croad and Birchall as outsiders
We haven't had that great a representation in recent times but if we can make top 2 teams tend to have a number of inclusions.

I think your forgetting Fletcher. If the big man can hold Buddy to 9 this year his in with another chance!:p

Franklin, Mitchell, Sewell (only 50/50 chance, IMO).
That's it.
Let's not forget that in 1991, when we won the premiership, we had no All-Australians.

Sam Mitchell, Lance Franklin, Brad Sewell and maaayyybbeee Campbell Brown.

How will Sewell make it if he doesnt get into the state match?
Is he really the best stopper in the game? Do they even pick stoppers in the all aust team or do they just pick the more attacking players?

Spot on. They generally love the big names though so if Hodge can string together a number of really good games, he'll be a chance too.

Right now Franklin and Micthell would be in.
On the selectors radar would be; Sewell, Bateman, Roughead, Brown and Croad.
At the back of their mind would be Hodge, he was looking geat until he got injured.

Franklin, Mitchell, Sewell should all be monties if they keep current form up.
Roughead, Brown, Hodge, Croad, Campbell all some chance.
Osborne!, Brown, Bateman, Birchall all have something against them (media) but may deserve it.
Gilham, Guerra, Ladson, Williams, Lewis an extremely slight chance.
There's 17 players....hmm....I wonder if I'm being generous? :D

You are being generous. The AA team doesn't deserve that many.:D
