I am interested to see who Collingwood supporters think are currently our top ten players and also a prediction of who our top ten will be by 2010. List from 1 - 10 if you can.

here is my list.

2008

DIDAK - All class
H SHAW - Next captain
PENDLEBURY - See Didak
CLOKE - Our best KPP
THOMAS - Form slump aside can change games
FRASER - Our best ruckman - still havent seen the best of him
SWAN - Best ball winner
DAVIS - Fast moving up the list and becoming a genuine midfielder
MEDHURST - Improving with every game
LOCKYER - Discipline, great skills and reliable

2010

PENDLEBURY - Will work his way to the best
THOMAS - Will become more consistant and nearly unstoppable
DIDAK - Will be a perminant goalkicking midfielder
CLOKE - In top 10 forwards in the comp
H SHAW - Will get better the longer he plays
REID - Could be anything. Cloke, Reid and Dawes will be imposing
BROWN - One of the best CHB in the comp
CLARKE - Will be a gun in the midfield by then
FRASER - Should be at his peak by this time.
DAVIS - Might get pushed out of the midfield by the talent above so may be back as the best small forward in the game .

I can't really be bothered making a list, so instead a few comments.

Burns is still in our top ten now, there is no doubt about that in my opinion. See last weeks game for reference.

I don't see Fraser ever becoming more dominant then he is now. He was a number 1 pick, he has had years of development, I think we can finally stop expecting him to move heaven and earth.
This isn't to imply I don't think he is important now, but I just don't think he will change much from the point he is currently at.

Swan will still be vital in 2010. I think Harry O will be vital in coming years, and he is definitely in my top ten... I love the way he plays, but the thing that most excites me is how much improvement he still has ahead.

The hot tip though, Sharrod Wellingham will feature in the 2010 list in 2 years ;)

I'm not gonna bother with the 2008 top 10, so you guys can play around with that. Im going to give two top 10s for 2010. The one that is a safer bet, and the one Im wishing becomes reality.

Safer bet;

1, Alan Didak
2, Scott Pendlebury
3, Heath Shaw
4, Travis Cloke
5, Dale Thomas
6, Dane Swan
7, Marty Clarke
8, Nathan Brown
9, Paul Medhurst
10, Ben Reid

The top 10 Im hoping for;

1, Dale Thomas (James Hird-type mercurial midfielder)
2, Scott Pendlebury (Best midfielder in the AFL, Brownlow Medal form)
3, Ben Reid (Matty Richardson role on the wings, averaging 10+ marks a game)
4, Marty Clarke (Ling-type tagger who has an amazing offensive style where he also kicks 1-2 goals a game)
5, Travis Cloke (Elite CHF of the league)
6, Heath Shaw (Not even needed in the midfield, so tearing up the HB line)
7, Chris Dawes (Gorilla FF, top 3 in the Coleman Medal)
8, Nathan Brown (Best KP defender in the AFL)
9, Sharrod Wellingham (Another quality Magpie midfielder who leaves opposition players, coachs and fans in awe)
10, John McCarthy (The hard-nut, extractor, giving the Magpies first use of the footy in stoppages)

With my top 10 wish list, the players I've left out (Didak, Swan and co) will be integral to the list, but that top 10 are garaunteed AA stars in the Geelong model :D

EDITED: What roles they're excelling in in brackets

Shouldn't we be more concerned with what's happen now or even next year.Who knows what will happen in 2010.

I can't believe hardly anyone has Medders in their '010 top ten, the way he's going he'll be top 5..
Thomas could and probably should be one and whether he is or not depends on Malthouse who doesn't like playing talented young players in the heart of midfield (i.e. dids, pendles (plays more wing, etc)). If they're going to be a midfielder, play them as one..

Also, Wellingham's going to be a gun, I can feel it. Has all the assets needed to succeed in modern footy..

P.s. not sure Goldsack will even be in the team in 2010, to me Cox, Harry'O and Anthony look the better medium prospects.

7, Chris Dawes (Gorilla FF, top 3 in the Coleman Medal)

Hasnt shown anything yet to suggest this

I said it was what I was hoping for. Not what I think will happen. Ive got John McCarthy in there, he hasnt shown anything either.

Also got Ben Reid higher then Shaw and Cloke, and thats not the case at the moment too.

Hmm... I can't be bothered doing the whole list, but I'm a little surprised not to see Cam Wood on anyone's 2010 list.

By then, I think he will be our 1st ruck and one of our 10 best.
