Hey guys was just surfing the net last night and found and article about Benji when he was 16. It says that he was 192 cm at 16 and was a standout at that age and that he would one day be a superstar. i have high hopes for this kid i think he has some real x-factor about him and is super quick hope he debuts soon cheers http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.theage.com.au/ffximage/2005/04/13/wbSPLIFEclinton_narrowweb__200x270.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.theage.com.au/news/Geoff-McClure/Sporting-Life/2005/04/13/1113251680511.html&h=270&w=200&sz=12&hl=en&start=2&um=1&tbnid=UJrzocuqPH9V7M:&tbnh=113&tbnw=84&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dc

Mustn't have grown much at all since 16...

Anyway, if beedee is to be believed (and chances are, he's not) Benji will debut this week with Hadley injuring his groin.

Infact ... he's gotten shorter ...

he's listed as 189 cm.

He's only listed as 189cm on Footwire. Has he shrunk?

There was alot of talk about Benjamin when he was a junior, and even the year he was drafted, alot of people on BF who had seen him play a bit in WA rated him pretty highly, and even thought he might go first round. The fact that he was still pretty raw when he was drafted, and he needed alot of work on his kicking were the main reasons why he fell down the order.

It has been pleasing to see him improve this year, with his kicking being particularly good. I can see him debuting this year, and he might even have a chance of doing that on Saturday. His form with the Bullants has been pretty good, and would have very much earnt his spot.

Is he a midfielder?
Apparently he runs the 100m in under 11secs.
This is what we have been lacking. get him in i say.

On Bay 13 - and judging by some of the other threads he's started today, I wouldn't read too much into it. :p

that's what age does to you

but nah in all seriousness does this bloke carry a bit of grunt in him? the boy can run SURE, but can he tackle? I think thats what we were lacking in the midfield zone before .....but people like Hadley (who's faster than tickers - who by the way we all know is tops at tackling) and of course Judd set the standard for pace and pressure........ AND how about skill wise? I want to know EVERYTHING!

Absolutely, we need a wormburner. Could be awesome for the side if he gets a spark/confidence and plays well.

Reckon he'd be idealy suited to a half back flank, or on the wing.

I watched a VFL game about 4 weeks ago and the guy really impressed me, I would assume he'd get a game this year

For the romance
he ought to play,
would have been a great indigenous story.

Eddie, Joe and Clint share a house,
he is against his former state,
runs like a deer,
some sort of bush legend,
and hell if he plays well,
could run with Wojinski next week.

Every Indigenous i have seen, can pick up the game speed in about 2 seconds.

I can't see any "Developement" in him chomping through bog heaps,
from Coburg to Cranbourne....or is it Craigeburn for the rest of the year.

Same. Think he'll get a run at some stage. His improvement over the past 12 months has been pretty good.

I'll confess I don't watch a lot of VFL, but last year from what I saw of him he looked like he was kind of lost.

This year he's been good and from what I've read of the match reports is continually impressing.

Benjamin and Walker running on the wing will be something to watch out for in the future

i remember there being big wraps on him pre draft, and was stoked we picked him up late (based on bigfooty opinion :) )

hope comes good.

Agree. As I've said before with the next several drafts being compromised by the wreckage that will be GC17 and YCBFS18, blokes like Clint and Joey are potentially gold-plated. If they can deliver some consistent footy for us we will suddenly have a good dose of the sort of excitement that currently only Eddie brings to our side ie. speedy, running, attacking football.

just out of interest, people that follow the draft/under 18's, where did you rate bejinman and anderson at the time they were drafted? have they met/fell below expectations?

(as kind of mentioned above my only pre-draft knowledge is from reading phantom drafts/popular opinion/and watching the odd u18's championship game etc on bigfooty which is often flawed)

Really looking forward to Ando coming back. And when this bloke debuts, I reckon he'll be one of those players who only has to run with the ball once and you're excited.
