Yesterday i was watching the Sydney v Essendon replay and the commentators were talking about the fact that the Swans have the skill to play fast attacking football but they almost always hold back and continue playing the defensive stoppage type play.

I think we can all agree that the Swans do have the skill to play that way but for some reason us fans rarely get to see it. I would LOVE to see the Swans take to the field and attack, i would love to see the Swans midfield charging through the corridore regularly and putting other teams defence under pressure with the speed in which the Swans are moving the ball around the field.

I know some people will say that our current gameplan has worked in the past and it is still working and while that is true against some teams it is not true against others. I think Round 14 (against Collingwood) is the perfect time for Paul Roos to try out a super attacking type of play as we already know that Collingwood have figured out how to play the Swans when we are using our normal style as they smashed us 3 times last year. I would love to see the Swans team run out onto ANZ Stadium on Round 14 and attack as much as they possibly can and move the ball as fast as they possibly can.

How do you all think the Swans would go with a super attacking gameplan?

Oh, to dream..........
It would be fantastic to see and I think this year we have the cattle to do it, but unfortunately Mr Roos does not agree with us.

apart from round 1 v saints and the geelong game, we've pretty much jumped every other team we've played, then fallen into habits dating back to the eade era, of taking our foot off the opposition's throat
look at what happened v the roos, dogs and even the bombers

but it's true, we certainly CAN run and gun, i think there might be a fear at team management level that we might not be able to match a team such as geelong or the hawks in a full-on shoot-out, and unfortunately the round five clash with the cats possibly justifies that

although geelong are at a rare peak and we're still rebuilding, developing, whatever you wanna call it

I so wish. Apart from the added thrill in the games it'd shove a sock down the gobs of the sheep of bigfooty who can't come up with any better material.

Like rancid said, it may be our inaccuracy that holds them back mostly. We play great, miss a couple of shots, panic and then taper it all back to hold the lead.

Don't know how to feel about it because I think if we hold onto the lead, we'll win more games and have a decent crack at finals .. but then I want us to take the risk and the gamble because if it pays off, we'll be up there with the best. The question is .. will we be as successful at the change as the Crows have been ?

sydney are down right pathetic boring and a waste of talent
they arent adventerous enough and roos is goin to kill the careers of bird jack moore if he doesnt change the game plan. (lucky for everyone those 3 players havent taken notice of roos and stuck to watching guys like ablett judd and black)
the main reason i see lack of creativity in the side is because roos wont let them play one on one football
one passage of play against doggies summed up their mentality, the ball went from a centre bounce to a wide pocket in our forward 50 a swans player gathered the ball and instead of kicking it over his head to the hot spot (for roos if hes reading this if you need a refresher it about 15-20m directly infront of goal) he kicked it back then back again and again and it ended up in our defensive 50
i was about to shot myself because we went from a good chance to score to one turnover and a goal against us
it kills me to say it but if it wasnt for our youth coming thought i wouldnt even watch a game

Funny that, the Dons game told me the exact opposite.

First quarter vs Port was great, paddocks of room and loose men everywhere. Then what happened?! Did Port man up at quarter time? Who changed the pace? I'm still puzzled.

Very very efficient in the 1st quarter. I think it was 11 inside 50s 9 scores?

Something like that, but we kicked 9.1. That is something rare from the Swans, and that behind was from Moore who was only 10 metres out! We could've kicked 10 straight, either way, it was much better goal kicking from the Swans today.

Our forward line stood out. RUNVS shall be happy about that. :)

very good game
thought our 2nd half was much better than our first
was good to see them respond with strong attack at the ball when a team challanged
if we had played like that we would of beat the doggies

The 1st quarter of the Port Adelaide game showed what the Swans can dp when they attack. Scoring 49 points in 1 quarter is very impressive no matter what team it is. I only hope we see more of it this season.

I wouldn't mind alternating like what we did on Saturday. If our team- and general-skills were up to scratch for the full four quarters we would have finished stronger on the night.
