View Full Version : I really wonder why?

When watching the football I'm really starting to wonder why commentators over-rate Collingwood players so much. During the last qtr of the Geelong Vs Collingwood match tonight I think it may have been Bruce, saying Medhurt is the most improved player in the A.F.L. It really makes me wonder, why? these Collingwood supporters are already thick/big headed, why do these idiots have to go and add to it. It really shits me!

Probably because Medhurst is definitely one of, if not the most improved player in the AFL.

We can add our own Paul Bower to the list of big improvers, but Medhurst kicks goals, he's already got the Anzac Medal, he's on pace for an AA berth, not to mention, Collingwood just beat Geelong by 86 points FFS

Cam Bruce loses his head over every young kid who has a half decent performance - yet his infatuation with Thomas is more than a bit disturbing...

Another one, who pumps up the Collingwood supporters heads. If we were playing Geelong tonight, you would hear no mention of any big improvers for Carlton thus far. I just feel that commentators these days are biased.

Had Stephen Browne been in a Collingwood jumper two weeks ago vs. the Weagles, I'm guessing Bruce would have blown his load.

I said in a previous thread, i really don't take anything you say seriously, as I am 100% certain you have/once have had a pole up your ass.

What has that got to do with anything?...

Whether or not thylacine has ever had a pole up his arse, or currently has one up his arse, I'd rather read what he posts on BigFooty over any nonsense you post.

I'm sure if we were playing Geelong tonight, and ended up 86 point winners, all of our better performers would have been mentioned, ffs, they just beat the reigning (and up until tonight undefeated) premiers by 86 ____ing points.

Christ, they ____ing creamed Geelong.

Like Blues4flag said previously, despite Steven Brownes game against West Coast the other week, commentators still failed to give any mention.

Also do you think comparing half their bloody team to daicos is warranted? Medhurts is like Daicos, then its Thomas, then it's Didak. I think perhaps something they go a little over the top.

No I don't take you seriously because i feel most of your posts are always negative.

Probably because they've all shown occasional brilliance, which Daicos brought to the game, funnily enough Daicos played for Collingwood, like the aforementioned players. I wonder why they are so quick to compare? Did you happen to see Thomas' goal from the boundary line tonight? I did, and I thought it was a bloody good goal.

And also, who cares if the commentators like to pump up Collingwood, would you rather them pump up our boys and then we fall flat on our arses with a first half performance like against Brisbane? Or would you rather let them pump up other teams and let us fly under the radar, improve week in, week out?... Think about it.

I wouldn't mind a little mention of our boys and how well our young blokes are doing. Kids like Bower and Browne even to a certain extent Russell. The last few weeks all three of them have played fantastically and I have not heard a mention of their names. I understand what you are saying, but i like to go by when credit is due..

I do understand your argument, but it could do the boys a world of good if they get a few mentions here and there in the media.

Russell deserves very little mention in the media, unless it's about... oh wait, am I still allowed to say what I think of Russell?...

Bower has got a few big wraps in the media of late, and Steven Browne will get his props. Medhurst has been consistent all season (besides the Carlton game) and he deserves all the props he's currently getting.

When Browne pieces together a few good matches, he might get some media attention (also, it helps being on Channel 7) and we're very rarely on Channel 7.

I don't want this to turn into a "lets hang it on Russell thread" but lately he has improved and I have been one of his toughest critics, but as i said, Credit when Credit is due and he deserves it.

Personally, I couldn't give a ____ what the commentators say or think.

Collingwood pumped Geelong and deserve due recognition. If we were in the same position, it is naive to think that we wouldn't get similar recognition and our players wouldn't get mentioned.

Let them enjoy it, god knows they needed it.

Browne has received some massive wraps in the media after his very promising performances.

He was compared to Wanganeen FFS. That's a huge compliment.

To say that our kids don't get the recognition they deserve may or may not be the case, but we're no different to every other team.

get of it theres only one Daicos, i dont know why commentators/ supporters compare present players with past players, there will never another daicos like there will never be another silvagni , and there will never be another sticks , and there will never be another diesel i can go on an on.

you guys might come back and say well he has a son and he'll play footy .... but thats a load of bulldust as i have only seen a couple of father son recruits really turn into AA players one being Gary Ablett Jnr a gun in hes own right , but hey hes not hes old man, im yet to see him kick 14 goals in a match.

They see it the way it really is unfortunately. If the Catlon boys deserve praise they would get it too. No conspiracy in the media gents.

I don't believe this thread.

Has the Carlton Board on BF suddenly become PC central or something?

Let's get out the whips and start the flagellation, shall we?

They are the mortal enemies for Christ's sake!

Yes, they deserve great credit for thrashing Geelong but generally they do get overrated in the media - repeatedly a chronically.

Every year when they are 'there abouts' they are always given 'premiership threat' status before they have earned it which is the opposite of most other clubs. I'm willing to give RiCHii the benefit of the 'doubt'.

In regards to both appraisal and peoples reaction to it...where there is smoke there is usually fire. Except if your Collingwood then it is hot air more often than not.
