The point he was making was that MM wouldn't allow us to play so poorly against your mob twice in one year. I hope he is right. Get off our board.

And the point I am making is it was there for the taking last time and you failed. You could've handed us our worst losing streak in the club's history but we wanted the win more and got it.
See you in 3 weeks :)

As Brahma Bull said, we have to win these next 3 games. We can't drop these sorts of games if we are going to be any sort of threat in September.

Buckley week, all week.
____ your record celebrating buckleys carrer by beating you guys and showing the afl what a real number 5 looks like is quite a few thousand times better.
See you there
At the start of the year we would've penciled in wins against North Melbourne and Carlton, and penciled in a loss to Geelong.
So, we know, not to count our chickens before they've hatched.

If we lose any of those three games, then last night's win means nothing.
Last night was good, but we have to show we are consistent and beat these teams which are struggling.
Especially Carlton, lets ____ them up.

i hate carlton supporters..
if u had any idea about football u would have realised collingwoodfc did not play to 10% of their ability that game.. not only did u guys play at 110% but u were also playing ur grand final that night.. do u honestly believe ur team is in the same league(ability wise) as ours? no way...
chris judd: hes a v12 running on 8 cylinders..
nick stevens: a slightly better woewoedin..
brendan fevola: great full forward..
marc murphy: good but we have pendlesm, thomas and the duke of wllingham...
the rest of ur team woudlnt get a game at our club except if gavin browns team needed a top up...
so lets wait and see when we have this rematch.. if we are half as hungry as last night we will beat u by 10 goals...

Put your money where your mouth is and "show up" in three weeks time then. Until then, Carlton 1 Collingwood 0

I don't like arrogant people so don't like most Carlton supporters, but let's hope your attitiude does not run through our club. Carlton beat us easily last time we played and had us beaten the time before that before they tanked.
They have a better midfield than us and a more reliable goalkicker whom we can never seem to curb. If it comes to ability, there is not much difference. If we don't get our work rate up like v Geelong then they could easily beat us again.
Don't get carried away with one win, it was fantastic, but Geelong were way off the mark last night. They are either carrying a lot of injuries, a bad case of the flu or just did not turn up to play.

And the fact that Adelaide went down to WCE in Perth tonight only helps our top 4 hopes more .... we are now only 4 pts. behind the crows - and WCE got the win out of the system :D

They should all be wins, and as far as our season is concerned, are must wins if we are to contend for the premiership. We do have a tendancy to lose games we shouldn't lose, (Carlton), or lose from a position where we should stroll home (Brisbane, Kangaroos), but I'm not two disappointed with where we are. 5-4 after playing three top six sides - Kangaroos, Geelong, Hawthorn; plus two contenders IMO, Brisbane and St Kilda. Add in a vastly improved Carlton and Richmond and the only two 'gimmies' we've had are Fremantle and Essendon. Though Melbourne is never a gimme for us, we do match up well on West Coast. Most worried about Carlton. Hey BG :D

Yes Tarks ;) Hopefully both sides bring their A game and we are entertained by a good game of footy, with Carlton taking the points again :D ;)

how is there midfield better than ours exactly?
because they have chris judd?
we have didak, pendles, thomas, medhurst, neon leon, the general scott burns, and others that can destroy teams (much like we did with geelong- granted we wont play like this every week- and surely apart from judd and possibly steven or maybe even marc murphy their midfield doenst have the depth to cover ours... i beliieve people underate our midfield.. if it were that bad we couldnt do what we did to the best midfield in the league-on an off day or otherwise!

Bingo ^ ^ ^ ^ ^
As fantastic as the win was, we need to capitalize on it. We need to use it as a step ladder and catapult into the top four.
We cannot lose any of the next 3 games.

Run home will be tough. We need to be in the top four before we face Adelaide, Footscray, Sydney (twice) North and Hawthorn, as well as road trips against Port and Freo in the last 10 rounds.
Therefore the next three wins are essential.

if we go into any of the next three games thinking it will be easy we will lose. as simple as that. what melbourne proved yesterday is that there's not that much between any of the teams when they bring their best.
we have a history of losing as favourites in the last few years. if we are serious top four candidates we have to win these games

We should be able to get up for the next three games. If we do. then confidence is a wonderful thing...who knows perhaps we may well have the belief to be able to knock off the Footscrays, Sydney's and so on.
Any worse than two out of three would be unacceptable!
The win Against Geelong has got to give us some platform to build on for the rest of 2008.

I think a lot of people are putting far too much stock in our win over Geelong.
The win was exactly what you want to see from a team angling at a top 4 spot but our next three weeks are not certain by any means.
West Coast- having just had a win that they would rate as good as ours will be saying exactly what we are all saying about their season being back on track, a good platform for the next game. They will be tough to beat in this mood and we will have to work hard at it.
Melbourne-recent form shows that they are only a quarter away from matching it with the best teams in the competition. They will find the form needed soon and guess who they would like to beat most....err...Collingwood.
Collingwood FC beware a wounded Melbourne FC at all times.
Then to Carlton-The hot favorites early, they are one game behind Collingwood and it would not be a shock if they are ahead of us by the time we meet...I don't have to say anything about Carlton...it would be disastrous to lose to the Scum. What if the unthinkable happens and they beat Geelong...you won't want to be on these boards the next week.
After these three games we have:
Western Bulldogs
Sydney in Sydney
Adelaide
and after that the next supposedly "easy" games we have are round 17 Essendon and round 22 Fremantle at Subiaco.
My fingernails are doomed.
Every game for the rest of the year is critical in my point of view and all are very losable.

Yes, we have to beware, and not let the guard down over the next three weeks. The second half of 08 needs to be much more consistent than the first half (well the first 8 rounds).
Honestly If we can knock the next three games over giving us pies 5 In A Row, we're in with a shot against the Doggies and Swans. (Our Record in Sydney is pretty good of late isn't it?) And The Crows?, well, who knows?
