Forget how we have played before, forget how we may play in the future, get excited because last night I saw one thing.
We have a Premiership side if we play like that. :D:thumbsu:
Greatest Collingwood performance I've seen since we did win a flag!!!
Well done everyone, bravo. But it all starts now.

after witnessing what i saw yesterday i came up with one conclusion.. WE ARE UNDERRATED... we destroyed one of the most powwerful teams of the modern era...
now i think the boys need to take a long hard look and realise that they ARE that good and their best is brilliant.. if we can become a little more consistant we are on the cusp of creating a collingwood dynasty...
I LOVE OUR TEAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I really agree and must emphasis to everyone that we have to let last year go. We cannot keep going back to our form of last year and how far we went in 2007. It is irrelevant now.
As Paul Medhurst said, that was the best, and most complete, win he has been involved in since joining this club in 2007. That means we are more likely better then we were in 2007. So lets focus on 2008 and make sure its all about 2008, and where we get to this year, not how far we got/should've gotten last year.

We have the capability to be top 4 and a premiership threat, but have been playing like a team making up the numbers.... The truth is there will always be polar opposites and there is always a pretty good reason for the diversity. Now, if we could just play to our potential like we did last night... every week.... we suddenly are a hell of a lot better then I thought.... but until we produce consistancy I still think we aren't on a par with those teams that do.
...That being said on any given day we know we can beat any team... but doing it often seems to be our sticking point.

I think they just remembered, or found out how, to play at their maximum capacity and their confidence will be through the roof again now so hopefully they do not forget how they played such inspired football last night, rarely does anyone play that well but just the fundamentals of it and we will win a lot more often than we lose.
Tackle, tackle, tackle, pressure, attack direct to goals, teamwork and help out each other.
Last night that came off like a masterpiece, I think I might buy the tape of that game because I've never seen such brilliance... Awe inspiring... :):thumbsu:

.....This game has proven my dvd recorder is worth its weight in gold lol
I agree.... but I find it hard to believe we can keep that up all year. Its pretty clear our gameplan is based around working extremely hard and physical work... and its hard to do that for so many weeks on end, especially with so many slight bodies.
That being said, if they can just plod away and play like that in the finals we are still as good a chance as we were last year, if not even better. Though I would prefer not to play Hawthorn.

Same but I don't think we should fear Hawthorn so much, they just hit their straps the same day we had a poor one like we just did to Geelong.
We would slaughter everyone if we played like that every week but of course we won't.
Just hope MM finds a way to bottle it. :D
100 1 percenters won us the game last night.

Absolutely, but their is another ingredient which is needed to win games at the top level, and that is Skills, and last night i thought our skill level was at it`s highest it has been in 3 years.

Beautiful footy last night, but consistancy is the key. A top four finish is within our capability, but if we fade in & out we'll struggle to make the eight.

Yeah i agree, consistency is our key now, all the so called experts are saying this too. If we can keep a lower form of what we produced last night on a week to week basis, top 4 is not out of the question.
And bloody hell, im still finding it hard to believe we beat them by that much, woot woot woot.

He (Medders) also went on to say "You’ve got to bite the bullet and roll the dice. It came off most of the time. That gave us a bit of a break and a bit of confidence and we hammered it home at the end.”
I think our players were given a bit of freedom last night to take them on, get a kick, run and receive etc. Not much tagging yet they chased and tackled hard. Rather than restrict the opposition we put our own skills on display. It wont be long before our young brigade are getting the tags themselves and we can dictate terms more often. It really was an awesome win.

I've never really thought about it but it's true, when we play well we force the other team to play our game, we did it to the Cats, we did it to the Swans and Eagles last year and nearly pulled it off against the Cats last year too.
We get flogged when we try to play them at their own game, see Hawthorn game or even Carlton game...
Hopefully we can continue to play this style of game we played last night as it seems perfect for us. :thumbsu:

Just hope we can play like that every week and not just save it for geelong. We got three winnable games coming up West Coast (H), Melbourne (A) and Carlton (H)

Good point, especially with both Leon and Didak looking like part of the retreat from Stalingrad by the end of the night. Last year by the time we got to the prelim we had Rocca and Heath both buggered for all intents and purposes as well as blokes like Bucks on their last legs. That type of footy is great, but 13 more weeks of trench warfrae like that will leave about 3 players standing. Great to watch though.
