We'd have decent "kids' to blood if it wasn't for that stupid topping up policy.
We're ruined for 5 years at least.

Schwab hang your head in shame !!
Does well in the interviews, half time he was good, but he's the main reason we are in this mess. He should just stay out of everything until he goes !!!

Pretty much.
We don't have kids to play!
If this year is seen to be bad, I think next year is going to be much much worse...

The Croad trade was his thing. The rest isn't.
Thats the football departments responsibility.

Eh.. The kids that would have been picked up probably wouldn't be that spectacular anyway. How many of them have been palyed by teams like Melbourne?

If Phil Smart's assessments of potential players was taken as gospel and adhered to, things would be very very different at the moment. Harvs would having something to build a club with.

well we dont have a hell of a lot of kids coming through but, hinkley, foster and o'brien have shown a bit so far
foster, palmer and ibbotson are a good core midfield to build around
the one positive out of finishing near bottom is that this draft looks like it has excellent midfield depth. if we could get rich or yarran to compliment the guys we have then our stay down the bottom may not be too long

I agree after the results today wins to WC and Carlton. Freo drop to 2nd bottom.
We should play the kids that show potential, Duffield had some signs today. J Carr back next week and so many times during the game I was screaming why Josh Head was not played instead of Thornton.
Too early to call and I want to see the guys trying but I would not be upset at the end of the year if we see:
Fremantle Pick 2 D. Rich (Subiaco).

You don't play kids with back injuries i.e. Foster. Would have thought we learnt that lesson with Hase.
Hinkley is way too small, and I worry about him getting treatment in the AFL - dangerous. You would have seen the treatment Palmer got today, because he is our most important player now, and because there is no protection for him it's dangerous. It's not good for their development.
Obrien shouldn't be playing for us, he has no form. Can't even get a solid performance in with Peel.
Head should be straight in for Thornton, but he is not young.
Palmer, Mayne and Ibbo all good though. :thumbsu:

Yup, as evidenced by the fact that Clinkley didn't even play for Swans this week because of 'general soreness'. He's a bright future prospect but he's not ready for the rigours of AFL football just yet.

Dockers have Ibbo and Palmer. The most thrown in new midfielders in the league.
Thrown in at the deep end and are just floating now but need to start kicking.

Mate they are more than floating, they are absolutely propelling, its just theirs a lot of drag that will be cut as we get our better midfielders (Headland, Hasleby, J.Carr) back in the team and draft more midfielders...

Harvey has Tarrant, Pavlich, Hasleby, Sandilands, MacPharlin and Grover as a spine. At the very least that is a significant talent core to build a team around, and as good as most spines going around.
Some of Smart's Gospel on players includes three who were delisted last year after 1 season, all locals so we should have known everything there is to know about them and how they would handle AFL. Other very high selections from the Gospel-man include Drum, L Brown, Dunn, Polak, Murphy. I still have hopes for Drum, that is a poor strike rate for high draft picks. We traded the #1 draft pick for Croad because Smart wanted Polak with that pick and thought he may last till #4.
Could only possibly treat Smart's views on players as gospel in the Dan Brown sense of the word.
