I dont knot if its true as i was barely paying attention but yesterday when the Blues and Dockers were on TV i heard a stat which said that Freo became the first team since 1980 to lose three consecutive games after leading all three at 3 quarter time...

I probably heard wrong because how can that be true?

First time since St Kilda in 1940 i think it was that i team has lost 4 games in a row after leading them at 3 quarter time.

Garry Lyon made mention of this stat on the radio while I was catching the train home... it has happened three times in the history of the game...

Easy for it to be true. Teams leading four games in a row at the last chance could reasonably expect to win one of them. A team losing four games in a row usually wouldn't be leading every single one of them either.

It's a trivial record anyway. At least Freo have been in winning positions in all of those games.

^^^

I thought it would of been more games lost whilst leading at 3QT because four certainly isnt a lot, it is a low record thats for sure..

I think the "in a row" is what makes the record so low...

I think the record is reflective of just how hard it is to lose that many games in a row. I'd think the odds of leading and losing 4 in a row are incredibly low.

I'd also be interested to see some records for consecutive 3Q time leads.

Oh how we love Fremantle!:) They manage to do something in their short time in the AFL that hasn't happened since 1940... Humerous:p.
