I've heard this so many times times tonight, both at the game tonight and now on the forum.

What a ridiculous thing to say and let me tell you why.

If we were not in the game tonight and we were comprehensively beaten all game, I would also be saying the same thing, "relax it's one game".

However, tonight was not one of those nights I'm afraid. We were a 5 goal better side all night and we continued to butcher the ball time and time again, we did everything we could to lose that game.

North gave us that game and we had it right there for the taking. We lost it and in a year where we will lose games by being rightfully beaten, so when a side hands a game oin a plate,it's nowhere near good enough to lose it.!!

I tend to agree...

...I think we've been great all year...but tonight was the first game all season that I did not for one second ever feel confident...

We seemed to be back to our unaccountable, russian rouelette worst. Whoever won the centre clearance had free entry into their 50.

Was on the edge of my seat every time they kicjed a long, high ball forward...was just one of those games were a 4 goal lead could easily (and did!) disappear in a matter of minutes...
...first time I've felt like that all season.

Dunno...lack of usual composure?

Even last week it was "obvious" to me that we'd run over the top and win...4 goals down at HT v. St. Kilda was the most confident I'd been all year!
Yet today...just never really looked like it was going to go our way...

Weird one. Hope it was just that.

Spot on. We played very ordinary footy last night, we were unaccountable and got smashed when the ball hit the deck. Our decisions were terrible and we were shaky for the whole game. There was no composure in our game at all.

Yet, North gave us the game and we said " No, no, you have it, we don't wan't it"!

I'm having a bit of trouble letting this one go because there will be game where are comprehenisively beaten and we need to take every opportunity we are given to get 4 points and ensure we are entrenched.

Nah. Can't agree with that at all, Dog. The lead got out to 24, but even then we were in touch at all times in general play and momentum. We had a midfield in half decent touch a backline who had most of your blokes under control (except Aker, who was excellent and your best player. ____ he is a gun). I called the win halfway through the 3rd. We looked in better shape and scored freely.

It was a 3 point loss against a half decent side. Your structural problems from previous years look to have been at least partly rectified, and if you can get Everitt back for Wight, get more footy in Williams and get West back in good touch before finals, you'll be very tough to beat. Really wouldn't worry about it.

It is a loss we had to have. We have been fighting out wins against Freo, Sydney and the draw against Richmond and maybe last night we were thinking we could do it again despite playing the worst football we hve played this year. Some of our players really struggled for some reason and this caused us to make stupid mistakes such as Gilbee's kick in in the 1st quarter.
These kind of mistakes are the ones that cost us the game and can be worked on during the week.
Yesterday the Demon's nearly beat Hwathorn by playing tough football and we will need to do the same next week.
I think we can beat Hawthorn but we will need to vastly improve of tackling.

what are people going on about. Yeah i was pissed off about the loss but its 1 game. did u really expect us to be 3rd with only 1 loss @ round 9 at the start of the season. We could easily be 5-4 with our close games. hopefully next week we can play better and not zone off like we did against richmond and last night

Tend to agree. North's endeavour at the contest was at least the equal of ours in the first half but we were just more clinical going forward. In the 2nd half, North were better in close and we were not as sharp going forward - I thought North's defence was excellent and repelled many Bulldog thrusts. North also had more dangerous key targets up forward in the 2nd half. Despite all that, we controlled the destiny of the 4 points at the completion of the match, so it was a real bob-of-the-head finish.
