View Full Version : Mark Robinson's Sour Grapes
Read this garbage by Mark Robinson Herald Sun (May 26, 2008 12:00am). Sour grapes you didn't get an interview Mark?
HEROES and heartache, that's what footy's about.
.......On one side, the captain had it all before him. Johnson's kick for goal and miss meant his team lost the game.
His disgust was for all to see. He threw away his mouthguard and headed straight for the rooms, his walk of doom interrupted by kind-hearted souls from the Kangaroos, who shook his hand or patted his back.
It was a pity, however, that he didn't speak to the media after the game.
He did after he kicked four goals in the final quarter to win the game for the Bulldogs in Round 1, which added the celebration to his 300th.
But he didn't last night. He would've been disappointed, undoubtedly, but only he could tell of his devastation.
On the other side, the captain did it all before him. On Harvey's 250th game

Johnno was obviously very upset. He made a beeline for the dressing rooms and the rest followed him. That said, I couldn't help but think back to the Adelaide game where, despite their disappointment at a missed goal after the siren, they lined up to acknowledge Johnno's milestone. Our lads aren't as big hearted as the Adelaide boys.

I was just thinking the exact same thing. It shows what a class act the Adelaide club is, lining up for Johnno when they lost after the siren.
I can understand Johnno not wanting to talk to the media though. As captain he would feel responsible and felt he let the side down. You would be just wanting to shower and get home ASAP. The last thing you would be wanting to do is talk to the media.

I can understand his disappointment and the media are all over us when we have a loss and have ignored us for the past couple of weeks. Guarantee they will talk about us this week:thumbsd:

This reminds me of when bucks took the Norm Smith from around his neck after the GF loss. A non-issue blown out of proportion.

it was 250 not 300,
come on, are we going to have to do that every time someone plays a 50 game milestone.
If it was a 300 and they didn't do it then i'd be dissapointed but seriously. It's not really a milestone game.

The bloke is obviously upset. Typical Hun beat up over absolutely nothing . Wait for it another journalistic masterpiece from Damian Barrett on how we can't handle success:confused:

Just for clarification... not one print journalist entered the Bulldogs rooms after the game and the only request for an interview with Johnno was made 55 minutes after the completion of the game and after Rodney Eade's press conference... and after Johnno had left the ground.
Its a little hard to refuse an interview when you aren't asked I would have thought.

Average article from Robbo. Being Harvey's 250th, they were only ever going to want to talk to him anyway and he was man enough to front the media today. Although he was pretty quick off the ground he did shake hands with most of the North boys and I'm fairly sure he congratulated Harvey.

Are you joking? That's a fairly average comment from Robbo if that is the case. Probably par for the course from him though, can't believe this bloke holds down a job.

Pretty easy to be 'kind-hearted' in that situation don't you think? Why point that out? Because our boys aren't so 'kind-hearted' I suppose.
Johnno did front the media after kicking those winning goals in his 300th game.
Unbelievable double standards by the man.
Brad Johnson spoke to the media after an incredibly exciting win in his major milestone game after playing a vital part in victory. All for the glorification of himself no doubt. He (apparently) wasn't so keen while still racked with gutting disappointment that probably left him unable to converse in any meaningful way. Bloody self-absorbed show pony.
And gee, Robbo; only he could tell of his devastation on the weekend. Mate I'm as non-plussed as you. Guess we'll never know how he felt after missing a relatively easy shot after the siren that would have kept his club unbeaten after nine games this season.
Guess you'll just have to make something up!
Guess you'll just have to make something up!
Yeah. Robinson's trying to make a name for himself by breaking new groung by being the first person to say a bad word about Johnno.

Does Mark Robinson share a room with Grant Thomas on interstate trips? Both will find anything to lambast the dogs.

Anyone see "On The Couch" last night.
Robbo is so pathetic, he got completely owned by Robert Walls of all people and that unpleasant little dwarf Sheahan tried to defend the paunchy, muck-raking, lazy little nematode that is Mark Knobinson.
(If you missed the show, Knobinson has cast aspersions that Robert Walls has unfairly singled out Mark Harvey and previously Mark Thompson because they are students of Sheedy. Robert Walls defended himself saying it is his job in the media to be critical of under-performing Coaches and cited criticism of Ross Lyon and Rodney Eade as examples of other Coaches he has been critical of, yet he was on the selection committee for the appointments of both Coaches. Walls set Sheahan off by saying Knobinson is a lazy journalist and that a Q & A interview with Mark Harvey epitomised his laziness.......so true)

I heard an interesting take on this yesterday, and one that I agree with 100%
Did the media request an interview with Nathan Bock after Round 1 when he missed his shot at goal on the siren??
This question was asked of Mark Robinson by Mark Doran yesterday on SEN, and it was highly amusing to hear Robinson try and work his answer so that he didn't sound like a hypocrite.
Robinson, I know you read this forum, and I feel Robert Walls was spot on. Understand you may be sour on not speaking to Johnno, but to write something without researching your facts reeks of unprofessionalism and bad journalism

no ur wrong. 250 games is a great achievment, but 300 games is a very special number that is revered and therfore not doing a guard of honour for boomer was justified i think.

Just a little correction.
It was actually a caller who put the question to Mark Robinson, not Mark Doran. And that caller was ME.

Who said anything about a guard of honour ? The captain should have gone to Harvey instead of running off. If he's to be excused because of personal anguish, then a few others should have instead of following Johnno off.
