G'day guys,

Looks like things have cooled down in here after last night's slag fest - so a good time to raise an ongoing issue that I think has been pretty obvious since Rd 3.

Appears as though most people have ongoing issues with Wight. Terrible game last night - but does make a contest in the backline when the ball comes in - no doubt about it. At any rate - no ready made replacement imo.

But.. what about Eagleton. Appeared he was playing in the backline last night - even tagging? I couldn't think of anyone less suited to that role. Doesn't seem to have the speed to shrug players anymore. For this reason he is more of a linkman than a finisher atm. Is often left flatfooted. Tries to defend - but it's just not natural to him.

To me it looks as though Cooney and Griff standing up has really impacted upon his role.

What's his short and long term future?

I liked Eagleton's game last night!

Did you especially like the part where he meandered over to the guy at half forward, stopped because he couldn't get to the ball, watched the North player drop the ball, and was then too far away that he couldn't pressure the player anyway?

I believe he was running with Harvey for most of the night?

Did a reasonable job...of course Harvey not knowing where he was probably helped.

Yes happy with him. Played the wrong role last night. Last week was a ripper game from eagle. Not going to crucify him based on one game. Hopefully he is back to him best against the Hawks.

How about the fact that he has tightened his defensive game and has led the tackle count in both games, 7 last week and 6 this week

must be,
imo his performances this year havent warranted the amount of crap he has been recieving on here.
maybe its because i never played at afl level so i truly dont know what im talking about,

You brute! When I see you on Saturday for the Hawks game I shall punch you on the nose sir, you are a scoundrel.

Nathan had the highest tackle count this week. And he was second last week.

Yes, we must be, you were obviously watching the game from a pre-determined bias.

I won't go over his stats because you will say they dont matter.

I will say he has had more effective tackles than any other Bulldog in the last 2 weeks.

Seems to be applying himself defesnively this year more than previous. saw thw writing on the wall i gurss. what is he? 30? why did it take pressure on his spot to make a leadership member to the ight things?

ah well, he is doing enough now at least until hill and higgins can string some games together.

Eagleton is going ok. Obviously a more defensive role set for him by Rocket by this is what you need from experienced players. He does give excellent run as part of our rotation and he was one of the important players giving late run against Freo.

was terrible in the early part of the season (maybe due to injury), but last two weeks have been servicable. still has to work harder when we haven't got the ball.
the last goal boomer kicked on the weekend in the square could have been stopped if eagleton decided to go at him instead of guarding the goal square. still a very average player in the brain/smart department!
