Our first captain, our leading goalscorer and one of our champion midfielders. And Antonowicz:D

Notes:
Daniel Kerr wore #34 for 19 games in 2001

Kerr easily.

At this stage Sumich, but Kerr is still young and hopefull has plenty of football ahead of him :D

Gunnar Longshanks

Why easily?Because Sumich was probably only quality between 1990 and 1993.

He played 150 games over his career. That's not many. And I reckon that by the end of 1994 he was on the way down.

I would say that Kerr has already surpassed Sumich, and is only going to get further ahead.

I voted Suma but I wish I had voted Kerr now. I didn't realise how many games he has played.

I reckon by about mid 94 he was well and truely on the decline!

But Suma did play a lot of great footy for the club over those 4-5 seasons, he kicked the bulk of his 500+ goals over roughly a 100 game period so that's a pretty fair effort. Also a true finals performer too.

If Kerr could just nail that one truly perfect season (we all know there has been room for improvement each year), then he'd be a clear leader for the #4s.

Tough one, but my vote goes to Kerr. Suma was a star, no doubt about that, but as Gunnar said, it was only really 1990-1993 in which he had everything going for him. During 1993 he lost it and was never the same. Really always looked disappointed. Sadly, he played as much a part in our rise in 1991-1992 as he did to our downfall. We could have had a real Brisbane Lions-like dynasty if he didn't become a shell of his former self.

Kerr, on the other hand, has been a little gun since day one. He's in his 8th season and still going strong (although still manages to find a way to get suspended every year). Suma was well passed it by his 8th season.

in terms of the quality of the player, i'd go with glendinning. brownlow medallist and one of the best CHB's of all time.

I agree, but his best was behind him before he reached us.

Sumich for me. Kerr will probably end up passing him, but Suma starred in two premiership years, led the goalkicking for 6 years straight and had a 100 goal season. By far the best performed forward we've ever had.

Even though Kerr is a gun and my favourite current day player, I have to go with Sumich.

514 goals in 150 game is a pretty good return, especially when you consider the fullbacks he was playing on, and what the backs could get a way with in those days. No hands in the back or chopping arms rules.

I doubt we would have won those flags in the 90's without him.

Kerr will surpass Sumich by the end of his career, but I think his off field issues and problems with the AFL tribunal have let him down.

That's the value of the debate isn't it.

I'd hardly say Suma starred in the 1994 premiership year. He was carried to that flag.

etc.I don't think it's as ambiguous as you're suggesting. It's the best player in the period they wore the guernsey at West Coast.

I reckon that's Kerr every day of the week. Glendinning can't seriously be considered given he only played 40 games as our #4.

Sumich was never among the comp's best 10-15 players.

Kerr is.

If you look at the difference between the 92 and 94 flags for Suma he was a shadow of himself in his 94 appearence. Didn't lead, looked down on confidence.

Kerr, but not easily

He won the brownlow in 2004 (but he was suspended)
He came close in 05
