Thats the latest news that has come out of the WAFC (Western Australian Football Commission), so which team will go - or which 2 will merge?

There were 5 merging possibilities but the 4 I remembered were:

South Fremantle & Peel
East Fremantle & Peel
Claremont and Subiaco
East Perth and Perth

Swan Districs should be safe since they cater for the eastern suburbs

West Perth should also be safe since they have a good membership base and they are for the northern suburbs

The 2 teams which I could see possibly merge are Claremont and Subiaco (they were thinking of relocating Subiaco to either the country or Karrinyup at one stage)

OR

Perth and East Perth (Perth was battling financial and on-field trouble in the past few years)

I would be very upset to see Claremont merge as the Tigers are my boys http://www.bigfooty.com/ubb/smile.gif.

Claremont and Subi would certainly seem the most logical merger, given their poor levels of support, geographical proximity and the complete lack of potential in their respective areas.
Getting rid of Peel (which would be the easy thing to do) would be a complete step backwards IMO. The WAFL needs to expand into areas that are actually growing and have a young population, not remain in inner metro areas with an aging and stagnant population.

Should just get rid of peel chunder///

Glad to hear the Swans won't go - cause they're my team - Guildford Boy and all - but don't want Perth to go - since I'm a Demon as well

I could live with a Perth-East Perth merger.
