Take 2 :o

Notes:
Narkle wore #41 in 9 games in 1990 (at least to the best of my recollection!)
Gehrig wore #25 in 16 games in 1995
Fletcher wore #41 in 18 games in 1999-2000

I'm going to have to go with Fletcher.

Turley achieved a higher peak, but was a flash in the pan.

Fletcher has sometimes been patchy, but I think he's done the job longer than Turley did.

Could probably be persuaded on this one. Turley was very good in the early 90s.

3 1 time All Australian players in the #7.

Closest contest easily of these numbers threads.

Each had a great peak in form, but all dropped away some what beyond that.

Turley was red hot in 1991, Gehrig was a gun youngster and grabbed an AA in 1997 and Fletcher's 2004 was excellent.

I'll go with Fletch, he had a great 2003, an excellent 2004 and was an important part of the midfield in 05 and 06.

Can't go past Turley. My favourite player of all time.

Had great skills, was hard at it and was a goal kicker.

I was absolutely shattered when he didn't win the Brownlow in 1991, was even more shattered when he pulled the pin early on his career. Came back but not the same player.

I was lucky enough to get the socks he wore in the 1992 Grand Final. Also we went out for dinner and drinks a few times while he was playing with Melbourne.

Fletcher should have been traded years ago. Below average disposal, doesn't like the tough stuff. Was probably the main player on our list that benefited from us having Judd and Cousins. If he was such a great player he would have stepped up this and filled the void left my Cousins or Judd, but what has happened?? He has been dropped a couple of times already.

Turley was the face of the club for a while there. Unfortunately faded in his career after injury but just gets my vote

I went with Fraser. All have been great players and terrible players in their time.

Turley was really a 1 season wonder, IMO. Fletcher rode the coat tails of an awesome midfield group. Gehrig was a gun, would be thrown all over the ground (he played full forward, full back, half forward, half back, wing... you name it). He was one from the Kouta, Goodes, Pavlich mould that could play in any position. He was much maligned, and no doubt has been more consistent during his time at St Kilda. All-in-all, I just feel he is the best out of the 3. Fletcher has lasted longer, but could often hide in the midfield talent. Poor old Frase was often made a scapegoat because he was a special talent.

He was hard enough at it but his kicking wasn't awesome and I don't remember him kicking many goals.

Fletch for mine, if he was back to his 04' form now more people would be voting for him. Turley's 91 was his only great season. His 92 was ok, 93 played twice, 94 was average and 95 he was ok.

Fletch was good in 01, 02, 03, 04 and 05 since then his form has been average but has been better for longer.

All Australian in 04, and looks like he is back to that form
