View Full Version : Round 10: Collingwood Vs West Coast @ M.C.G
Both had surprising victories last weekend and has added a little bit extra to this game.
Eagles looking at trying to climb out of the lower reaches of the ladder while the pies aiming for that top 4 spot.
Collingwood should win after their tackling effort on Friday night - that was something awesome to watch. But they can be a team who can come out and play a stinker (look at the game Vs Carlton)
I am hoping the young kids of West Coast get another game to build on their good game from last week. Hopefully we can just have a good crack and what happens will happen.
My Prediction: Pies small forwards always hurt us and will again - Didak, Davis and Medhurst to do some damage.
Collingwood by 29 points.
thoughts???
Depends which Collingwood comes to play.
If last wks comes then you're in trouble!
Otherwise it will be a good game....:thumbsu:

It's hard to judge what will transpire, given the "out of the blue" nature of both of the wins last week. Collingwood have obviously had a better year so far, but still are yet to show that they can perform on a consistent basis. If we display the same kind of form that we did against Geelong, then West Coast will be pummelled. However, if we revert back to our previous form and give a performance like we did against Carlton then we will be beaten easily.
Anyway, I can't wait for Saturday. Hopefully it's a high quality affair.

Pies by 4 goals.
West Coast aren't terrible. they showed that last week with a great win. Collingwood needs to turn up to play for this one. It won't be easy.

These games are generally always close.
Need to bring our game this week.
I think we'll win by 10-14 points.

These two teams usually bring about a good game, i remember 2006 we were on top of the ladder, and collingwood were near the bottom played MCG and we lost!!
Anything can happened, with Kerr back and confirming he doesnt want to leave us, and waters got some snr talent back.
For me this year, l see it as rebuilding and being a melbourne based eagle supporter l think l will see a few more losses then wins this year. Collingwood on a high after killing geelong last week, i think might be a bit hard task. l just hope we cont to be competitive like we have over the past few weeks, if thats the case, l think it should be a good game to watch.:thumbsu:

We used to hunt the Eagles: as the inferior side we had the luxury of setting ourselves, and because the midfield was so brilliant the task was clear-cut: stop the two big guns.
This time its the other way round, your less well known kids will be hunting our bigger names like Didak and Pendles. The Eagles kids might be lesser known but there's pure gold in there, very scary.
Definitely a danger game for us, all the reasons in the world for us to feel confident but frankly the Eagles are set up to beat us. There's the quality mids, not well known so they might get under our radar. There's the young forwards, but the Eagles don't rely that much on theuir KP forwards anyway so our gun defence will count for a bit less unless they can help out in the midfield. And there's the rucks although we have improved this year.
Its a home game so we have the odds on our side but we need to come out hard and show respect or we'll get done. Looking forward to a cracking game.

Are Kerr and Waters definately in or is this a ploy?
Who would take their place(s) if its the latter?

The 2008 West Coast Eagles doesn't have Chris Judd or Ben Cousins, but they do have 23 year old Matt Priddis who is already a sensational midfielder, Josh Kennedy is developing well, so is Ben McKinley and what about young Brad Ebert last week, playing his 6th senior AFL game: 18 kicks, 10 handballs, 10 marks, 6 tackles with 1 goal.
If we comes out and play with the intensity we did in the first half last week West Coast won't win, but the Eagles are certainly not a side to take lightly.

I'm going to go right against the flow. Pies have learnt know that four quarters is what is needed each week, and after two floggings after big wins, and a top four spot right up for grabs, expect the Pies to come out and play.
Collingwood by 65 points!!!
Collingwood have to start building momentum and consistency. Over the past 3 years we tend to have patches througout the year where we lose games we shouldn't and go Win-loss-win-loss. It has cost us top four finishes and a crack at the flag. Have to come out hard, play to Cox's ruck, play Fraser up forward for majority of the game and limit Kerr and Priddis. Expect Didak to fire:thumbsu:
If we do this we should win by 4-5 goal. :D

Well Ryan davis and Mark Nicoski are our first two emergencies, but I'm confident Kerr and Waters will both play.
Should be a good game, not too many blowouts in recent years between these two teams.

Yep I expect a close contest after the way you thrashed the Crows last week. Embley and Fletcher were back to near their best I'd say and with Priddis and Kerr back in WC look a much tougher proposition.

what people dont realise is that kerr and priddis have only played a half together this year and that was in round 1 when we won, so with cox, kerr, priddis & fletcher running through the middle we could surprise you lot...
will be tight.

Who would come in for Rocca??
Thats a big bonus if he doesnt play. Still pies have got awesome small forwards that are dangerous....
Someone will probably bob up for 5 or 6 no doubt...
Remember Andrew Tranquilli (6) / Brodie Holland (8) :eek::thumbsd:

I'm not saying that holding in a ruck contest isn't illegal but you can't tell me that it's a very enforced rule, as a result a lot of ruckman just engage in the battle of who's stronger. Today Cox is winning, against other rucks he loses. It's the life of a ruckman, don't cry about it.

i think we've been pretty good out of the middle, getting clearances etc...but when the pies get the footy our tackling is pretty poor.

I didn't say anything about how it's affecting the rest of the game, but someone asked why Shaw wasn't doing well. Selwood is on him and Shaw has barely got a kick.

smashed - to get 1 possession in a half of football
smashed - to get 1 possession in a half of football... and still be 5 goals up
