Has round 10 uncovered anything new.
Craigie’s Crows may be suffering the let down from inexperience and they have certainly found it difficult to kick with accuracy. But only 9 goals against the weakest defence in the league is a concern. A points victory (or is that behinds) for the Crows who gave Mathew Knights something to be excited about simply by refusing to kick the goals to finish the game. The Bombers were certainly more competitive but is that code for Crows were poor. Ordinary conditions for a less than memorable game, but Birdman Burton may be in trouble for the head contact in a bump that is outside what is currently tolerated.
The Magpies further boosted the confidence of their supporters with another big win this time over Woosha’s Woosies who are looking to establish a travelling record only matched by Fremantle. The Pies had great service from Medhurst and Di-Di-Didak and continue to Swan through the opposition to put themselves in the mix. The Woosies seem more interested in putting themselves in contention for the end of year draft as they introduce high numbers of fresh faces.
The Hawthorn run is over as they were comprehensively beaten by the Doggies in Launceston. Yakermanis was prominent and the Coon Dog keeps performing. Sammy Mitchell was Boyd down while Griffen was an influence. Buddy Boy snagged 5 despite a really competitive effort from Tommy Gun Williams and the Real Orange Roughead also booted 4 but the Hawks just did not have the penetration as their perceived hardness was brought into question.
The Kangaroos trip to Brisbane brought them back to reality as they were unable to find the answer for The Transport forwards (B Double – Brown and Bradshaw). The Kangas hung in to prevent a real blowout but Brisbane were too strong with Power and Black significant contributors with Medicine Man Charman.
The Catters were slow starters but really got motoring after the long interval as Aaaaaablett, Jimmy Barbell and Corey with help from Ugly Duck Ling were able to exert more influence than the Juddernaut and Stevo. The Blue Boys have a way to go with Clanger Carrazzo among others needing serious skill improvement.
Sydney showed the Goodes and a Jolly domination of the ruck to obliterate Terry’s Tigers who, after several weeks of spirited effort punctuated by minimal success, returned to the Richmondesque form that has typified the performances dished up under Terry’s watch.
The St Kilda Marshmallows came out to show some hardness but the Deeficient Demons were unable to show the spirit that had been threatening. Unfortunately the serious injury to Robbo when coupled with the pre game loss of Flash Davey left no fight and allowed the Saints to record a hollow victory. Luke Ball was terrific and with Gnat Milne and the Schneiderman amongst the goals the Saint season is alive but the marshmallow query remains.
The Wharfie Chokers Cup was contested at Subi and the Freoloaders claimed sole ownership of the world record for losing after a final break lead by achieving it for a 5th successive week. Despite the efforts of Man Mammoth Sandilands and Precocious Palmer the Freo Shockers just could not do the job in the last. The Power were not greatly impressive but Mercurial Motlop snagged 5 and Rodan Runner was allowed leeway to influence the result. The odds on Harvey surviving the rterm of his contract are getting longer.
