Ooooh, tough words!

"Wait until this season"

You mean you've finally got it through your head that Glenelg are last year's wooden spooners?

I guess "Wait until this season" is better than harping on past glories that happened 20 years ago...

I'm glad you're looking good, but it's how you play that matters, and from last year's efforts - you're shithouse.

It was only last year for gods sake! You're going on as if it was 20 years ago...

The 2001 season hasn't begun yet, therefore all we have to base our predictions on, are the performances of last year.

Glenelg's performances last year... were shit.

Defending both points of view here (fence-sitter!) - the Southport sides fielded so far in trials has been about 80-85% full strength. Make of that what you will.

I couldn't see a full-strength Southport side lose to any non-AFL team by 90 points.

Glenelg should be congratulated though on tearing a side apart in a trial, and maintaining intensity. Just my 2 bobs worth.

"Nerdy Hypocrite". Grow the **** up - Because I have basic spelling and grammar skills, I guess I'm a nerd then, eh?

The season hasn't started yet - therefore, when we make predictions, we have to base them on what happened last season! Is it that hard to understand? Honestly - you are the only person on this board that needs things to be explained to them 10 times before they sink in, you uneducated twat.

I was talking about when you go on about things from "the last 20 years" and when you keep trying to relive Glenelg's so called glory days. Well *newsflash* - The 80's are over! It's time for you to join the rest of us in the 2000's, and accept the fact that Glenelg are SHITE.

And still, he doesn't understand. Honestly, you're lack of intelligence has surpassed my expectations.

No, more likely, you won't be seen when Glenelg go back to back. And if you ARE seen, all you'll be doing, is going on about how "you wait until next year - we're going to do this, we're going to do that"

You can call me nerd as much as you want. I'd rather be a 'nerd' with basic spelling and grammar skills, than an 'imbecile' that makes no sense whatsoever, who obviously failed to get an education.

Facts? The fact is, Glenelg finished bottom last year!

A few half decent recruits isn't going to take you to a premiership for christs sake, get over it already.

Just a point that must be made here.

The SANFL is a far stronger comp than the AFLQ State League. Pure and simple.

There just isn't the money up here in QLD for the state league to be that good. State league players here don't generally break $100 a game. Most are getting around $70 if they win.

SANFL match payments are a lot higher.

Strip for? Most girls who ask...

Play for perhaps? Uni of QLD (well, *play* is kind of a strong term. Train with certainly. Carry the drinks for on occasion, yep. Actually *playing* is a long term project....)

tee hee .... I know that feeling !

I remember when I was at South Brisbane (Yeronga now!) we had a big-time running battle with the Uni boys, especially come finals time - although it did tend to be us and Aspley in the GF most years. (I won't mention that we choked not once, not twice, but three times in a row to the Hornets!)

I remember that ground of yours being like concrete, but the refec afterwards was always a good recovery point!

The University vs Yeronga rivalry is still as strong as ever. Especially after we put them out of the finals last year.

Aspley will most likely be the whipping boys of the new Premier league comp though. Last year they were honestly the fattest, slowest side in the comp (not the worst though - their skills weren't that bad, just their fitness).

The Uni team now plays on a different oval, with possibly the best playing surface in the league. Better than some state league clubs. Still hard as concrete though - especially the centre pitch area.

Round one of this year's season is Uni v Yeronga at Uni. April 7. Reserves at 12:10pm, seniors at 2:15pm. Come down and relive some memories!!

Mud n blood,

Check the team list and look at the squad Glenelg rotated for the game....
Not saying the league up there isnt strong...and Im not saying the SANFL is anywhere near what it once was...because it isnt...In fact it is really rank compared to pre AFL days, but you have to remember Glenelg are a traditional football club with a depth that goes all the way to its U/15's from football clubs in the zone.
No offence intended, but it is like Brighton rugby club in Adelaide expecting that it would be competitive against the Seagulls ( do they still exist ? ) or someother Gold Coast or Brisbane league club.
