View Full Version : Buddy's Family
Just on Channel 10 before.
I see Buddy's father every single week at the MCG but I didn't know it was him.
He sits in Level 1, Bay 20 and right up the back.
If you didn't see the story, his father is the large guy with the dreadlocks and the walrus moustache.
His sister is not a bad looker.
She is going out with Matt Gituea from the Western Force (Rugby)

I met Buddy's grandfather in Noosa a few years back, just by chance.
I met this old (white) guy and commented about his height and asked if he had played footy. To my surprise, he said he played for the Melbourne footy club. I told him I followed the Hawks and he said, that his grandson had just been drafted by the Hawks. I then realised he was Lance's grandfather and told him of the excitement he would create and that Buddy would be a star. He agreed. This was just prior to the 06 season.
Unfortunately, the old guy died last year, but at least he managed to see a few games with his grandson playing.
I think this maybe why Buddy was a demons fan as a kid.

I don't know if this list is complete but it's the only Franklin I can find around what would be the right time. Going by his DOB he would of been around 88 in 2006.
Arthur Franklin. Played 3 games in 1942.

This guy was a lot taller than 178cm. More like 186cm. Taller than me and I'm 183cm. Tall for an old bloke. He seemed fairly genuine.
Another Franklin at Melbourne was Roy who played in 1915. He was born Xmas day in 1892. He would have been 25 when Arthur was born. His son?
I found this quote from an article Mike Sheahan wrote on 02/06/08.
"Franklin attended Wesley College in Perth, but grew up following Melbourne, as his father and grandfather had done".
Certainly nothing about Franklins playing for Melbourne. I think there may have been a game 12 months ago and it was mentioned on the broadcast that Buddy’s grandfather had died during the week?
