I'm surprised that the Rising Star Panel decided to vote Nathan Brown this week for rising star, yes he is a good player and has shown a reasonable amount of promise, but I cannot comprehend why they chose this week beyond others when he only had 13 possessions.
Now Jarryd Morton has had 20+ possessions for the last two weeks and no nomination. Based on this weeks performance statistics I believe Morton was more worthy of a rising star nomination than N.Brown. Or are the statistics deceiving me and did Brown actually play better than Morton???

There has been lots of talk about Rising Star nominations this year and most people agree, the nomination recognises players who perform exceptionally in any particular week OR a player who has performed well consistently.
Nathan Brown probably deserved to be nominated much earlier in the season, he has continued returning solid performance, thus why he was nomiated.
If Morton keeps up, he'll probably get his nomination at some stage throughout the season.
It also depends on what you do with those posessions. Morton might have had 20+ but not all of them were effective. His handballs in particular.
The rising star is also about longitivity, they are more inclined to give it to players who have strung more than 2 good games together.
Houli (played last year)
Hill (had a good run of games)
Palmer (as above)
Warnock (as above)
Rioli (how long did it take him to get one?)
Morton will get one if he can stay in the team for a few more rounds, its taken surprisingly long for Brown to get his nomination.

Your probably right vanders but he did set up 3 goals in the third term with his passes when we were making a little run at the dogs.
Hopefully he keeps it up and snags a nomination

Was it last year we didnt get a nom despite having some great players who fitted the criteria?
Enough said.

I actually think we only had Xavier Ellis eligable, the other youngsters only played one game and didnt deserve it after one game i.e. Thorp, Dowler
No one deserved a nomination last year but X, remember a couple years ago when we had the most nominations?

Morton is an absolute legend in the making.
Disposal is like a 2nd gamer, but his positioning is great and the reason he's getting so many touches.
I'd like to see him kept in the side even if we get a few back. I think we'd have a very good player by next year if he played 10+ games this year.
Morton, I feel, still has a long way to go before any thoughts of a Rising Star nomination, or any other accolade.
He needs to hit a target first. Don't get me wrong, I like him, but if he gets nominated before he can improve his disposal, it will be a joke...
