I am very interested to see how we react to the loss against the dogs this week when we play essendon. Considering that we may not have too many ins to get back this week, if we go in with close to the same side how do you think we will go?

I know Essendon are not a great side at the moment, but they played alright on the weekend, and we have been playing fairly ordinary over last 3 weeks.

Even if it is the same side as last week I would hope we will be hard at the ball and get back some of that hunger that Clarko has been talking about.

Who would you expect needs to have a big game? and do you think will have another fight on our hands?

Im interested in what people think.

after seeing the dispointment on their faces after the loss and especially buddys expression i would think they come out and flog the dons in the 1st quarter..
i dont think we are here for the taking and with clarko and a few hawks in the media this week they wouldnt be very happy.

i would hate to be the bombers this week that is for sure......

In the stock market, they say that the trend continues unitil it stops.

As we've been playing progressively worse each week, an inpartial observer /analyst would predict that we'd lose this one as well - unless and until there's a catalyst of some sort to turn the trend around or it exhausts itself.

Whether that catalysyt has the name of Luke Hodge, or some other player or attitude intervenes to stop the rot, is something that we'll find out on Saturday night.

I'd say the catalyst is that for the first time this season our score was lower than the opposition's when the final siren went.

Or it could be the media hacks out in force this week in combination with the loss.

Or it could be Hodge + the loss last week + the media hacks = Angry Clarko + Vengeful Buddy + hungry hodge = fire in the belly + 12 goal win.

Who knows?

If you want to look at Hawthorn as a stock then you would have to consider a win as an increase in stock price wouldn't you? Considering we had 9 wins in a row and only 1 loss then I would consider this to be a bullish trend and our one loss as simply a poor days trading. Perhaps this poor days trading reflects in house difficulties (injury to players etc) or just a bad day (coming up against an in form and more committed unit). I would think that we are still a very bullish stock and not yet in a down trend, this could just be a flattening out period before another big boom as I believe our fundamentals are very good.

That was fun!

I like that take on it too.

I think we're in your typical consolidation zone before the next rise.

We've been stung, on and off the field this last week. Will be a great motivator for sure. I'm hoping for a ferocious response.

Just to make it a little more messy (I didnt want to call for blood!), we will be playing those old pretenders, that team of faecal scum - Essendon. I anticipate our games, it allows us to remind them that after the line in the sand game, they will forever be 'our bitches'. Whenever we play them now, they expect to be belted - physically and on the scoreboard.

Given the crap the Hawks have endured in the last week, I wouldnt want to be any team copping us on the rebound, least of all Essendon.

PS. After calling for a coaching uppercut to Jordan Lewis in light of his frequent 'lapses', I think Clarko should say, "Im taking the leash off you son, 'Do what thou whilt'". In the absence of Hodge, Lewis is very capable of delivering the aggresive inspiration. If it means he does something and cops a couple of weeks, then so be it, but make it worthwhile.
