i dont have one
but i did a lot of research on recorders as i bought one for my mates wedding present
you cant go wrong with pioneer ones, main reason is they do the same at the other brands but the compression rates is much better. therefore you get more hours of the harddrive than you would with a same size other brand!!

yeah not a problem
i used to work for JB HiFi a few years ago and my older bro used to work for electronic goods suppliers
so in the end i know what to ask and look for.
but for beginners the best thing to do is go to the store and look at the box's and compare
then ask questions to the sales reps.
then use those answers to another store to see if you are being played and compare those answers
but with DVD recorder, i got this for my mate DVR550HXS. have a look. probably will get one myself soon!!

Yeah a lot of choices out there. Was also wondering if you can upgrade the HDD without taking it back to the shops, like you know with a computer. That would be awesome if you could do that.

Thats a pity but don't really matter 160gig is still a lot of space for what I need it for. I heard somewhere that DVD recorders don't have a very long life span? True or not?

if it was possible probably not worth it considering they cost $500 approx now
never heard of that problem with life span. i would assume it would be like any other electronic device in regards to demands on usage.
If you are just recording your life away and burning on dvd all the time, then the recorder would die a lot faster.
i wouldnt be worried with life span anywayz, a couple of years they will be worth next to nothing as normal dvd players are just about redundant.
Yeah good point and with Blue Ray out now as well and prices for Blue Ray will drop fast as well I guess it should for for 2 - 3 years.
