View Full Version : AICF Junior Championships (14 and Under, 16 and Under, 18 and Under)
It's that time of year again as the first of the national indoor cricket tournaments gets underway today from Caboolture in Queensland. The tournament runs from June 4 to June 9 with teams from most states in Australia taking part as well as a couple of sides from South Africa.
This tournament features three male grades (14 and Under, 16 and Under and 18 Under boys) and also a female grade (18 and Under girls).
Here's the entry lists,
14 and Under Boys
North Queensland
South East Queensland
New South Wales Blues
New South Wales Cyclones
Australian Capital Territory
Victoria
Western Australia
South Africa
16 and Under Boys

Some big entry lists there, NSW has been split into "Blues" and "Cyclones" for the 14 and 16's, I'm sure that Cyclones might be alternate name for the "Country" side. Disappointing effort from South Australia to not have any teams participating this year, maybe they can get their act together for next years tournament.
Should be a great tournament with some good indoor cricket to be played, hopefully some results and ladders can come through by tonight.

Top four a done deal, just a matter of who finishes where. Still an open race for the spoon. NSW Cyclones would be favourites at the moment but one win would probably take them away from last place.

Race still wide open for the double chance, any of the top three could finish either first or second. NSW Cyclones will almost certainly finish 4th. Western Australia still have a very slim chance of making finals but they'll need to to beat Queensland 7-0 and hope North Queensland do the same to the Cyclones. There's about as much chance of that happening as you have of winning lotto.
Victoria look set to win the wooden spoon, they'll need to beat ACT to avoid that title but with only three skins from six games that looks unlikely.

Queensland way in front followed by ACT and then North Queensland. NSW will need to win their game tomorrow against ACT 5-2 and hope North Queensland accounts for WA. Victoria will be the wooden spooners there.
NSW will be mightily embarassed if they don't make the finals in this grade.

The Thunder are into the Grand Final with the evenly matched Hurricanes and NSW to do battle in the 2 vs 3 preliminary final. Victoria haven't been all that competitive although they only lost by 17 to the Blues earlier in the day.
Each team has one game before the finals. Finals will be top four for the male grades and a 2 v 3 prelim final in the girls grade. The winner of 2 v 3 will play 1st in the Grand Final in the 18 and Under Girls.
Sorry about the delay, have been studying for exams.

A good tournament had by all, congratulations to all winners. NSW Blues pulled off an amazing result in the 18 and Under Girls, beating both Queensland teams in the finals to become national champions. Queensland were never headed in the 18 and Under Boys competition, Queensland also won the 16 and Under Boys grade after knocking off NSW while South Africa beat Western Australia in the 14's grade.
Another good carnival, looking forward to the next event which is the Open carnival and that starts at the end of the month.
