Doobie Renshaw

Just getting a view how others feel about the officiating of games. Probably think I'm having a sook but thought I'd air personal view before someone gets seriously hurt. In the Ressies game yesterday, you know who came into the rooms laying down the law. When it came to the crunch, you know who proceeded to officiate from the centre square!!! Decisions were being made from 30 - 50 metres away! Sippawicz can back this up! Here we are battling to put sides onto the park and trying to keep the competition at a reasonable level and then we get this happening. The Seniors wasn't much better with the game starting to get out of control because of you know who not doing their job up to scratch. One incident in particular, which was the kickstart to a bit of niggle, involved a reknown aggressor running straight at Chappy when the ball wasn't even in the vicinity and then tried to knock his friggin head off. That's when the fun and games started, and then Hilly gets sent off and reported doing whatever. I know you know who is running short for numbers and trying to do the best job they can but fair dinkum! Enough is enough! Us footballers are out there trying to do the best we can as well and it's just getting more and more frustrating when this type of thing happens. Call me a sook if you must but I've had a gut full of you know who not reaching the standards that the competitors are trying to achieve!
Which is exactly why blokes like yourself need to take up the whistle in the next year or two when your body can't cope with the bumps anymore, but you still have a lot to give. Have a go at it Jono.

Interesting to see Matthew Robertson from Kilmore (Riddell District Football League) seeking a clearance to Tocumwal.
Robertson will be a very handy pick up and is a triple best and fairest winner.
Toquick - Can you provide any more information regarding Robertson? Your boys looking for an extra boost into finals contention heading into the second half of the season?
Fingers crossed that we get Robbo on board, im sure Kilmore will be reluctant to let him go.
Im not sure on the reasons why he is leaving Kilmore but the reasons he is keen to come to Toc are, he went to school at Assumption with Leeroy and one of his good mates Shaun Finnigan has just come to the Bloods from Kilmore.
He is coming up for a training run tonight and if his clearence goes through before the weekend he is a certain starter against Deni.
toquick, how is or injury coming along??
are you back on the park.

Unfortunate, but given his previous record it doesn't really suprise me. If Robinson gets cleared to Tocumwal by Saturday I would now say that Tocumwal will scrape home against Deniliquin by under 20 points.

In reply to Big Hawk's post about the "you know who" in last weeks Barooga-Echuca Utd Two's game, I wasn't too upset about the decisions being made from inside the centre square - at least that meant he had ventured outside the centre circle to make some decisions!! You know what you are gonna get with certain individuals within the "you know who" fraternity, and if you don't have any expectations of them, then you are rarely disappointed.....
Also concur with DTS Acky, all the best to Joshy Wang and Rumba mob - hope you stick it right up em!!

are you guys callin "ECHUCA" out of town???? i dont know what you's are on about sayin moama have all out of towners??? it's only the sunbury boys... and the coach and ass coach live here now. I would think Tongala would be the only club that would have above 90 percent locals anyways...what club doesnt have its recruits... Anyways on another point Scott Lobbs brother Jamie will be playin with us, kid can play the game. And the rumba game was a good contest, we have been used to running over the top of teams lately and i think we forgot that you cant take your foot off against quality opposition, they just kept coming and coming.. and almost stole the game...

Yes Ringo, they were awesome, Gemmill, Barnes, Butler, Davies all smashed us through the midfield and also caused headaches when changing up forward. Many avenues to goal and Parker is now just one of many targets up forward.

are you saying because I wanted another team to beat moama , that I must hate them ? not the case mate , although I do enjoy a good rivalry . if you remove the rivalry how boring . I genuinely wanted rumba to win , it will make the finals more exciting with a few more sides in the running .

arvo gents thought i'd log on for the first time in 12mths!
few things after reading for 15min:
1) moama & echuca ever merging.........fat chance. too much rivalry (mostly between off field people now)!
2) the old northern echuca league forming? more chance than moama/united merging but still only about a 2% chance.
3) m brown does have w.l.f. and does step over the boundary lines as witnessed first hand when he dropped a moama player on his head/shoulder snapping a collar bone 3 years ago after the whistle. went to appeal and got thrown out........joke but sh1t happens.
4) moama's coach s. keam did live in moama 6 years ago and played half a year when all of a sudden his now wife's oldman died all of a sudden and he had to go back and take over the farm out west otherwise would have lived and played at moama for 6 years. has always said from when he left he'd be back. recruit of course and no doubt getting a few $$ being coach and bringing his best mate harley back with him. def no ring-in for a year... so moama have alot of locals & 4 guns from sunbury (makes a massive difference when you recruit very good players instead of good players who float between clubs from year to year). the others (harley & roscoe moved in summer to moama) & the other ex moama boys travel from melb. am sure most other clubs have a similar story but maybe weren't as lucky with the quality of the footballers & blokes they all are.
5) can't blame j.lobb from playing with his bro for 9-13 weeks after moving down from qld.
6) beware of the purples! playing it low key and will no doubt be very hard to beat come sep.

Congupna v Echuca United - 20 points. Hueston to lead from the front and his young Eagles to notch up win number three.
Tongala v Barooga - 48 points. Hawks too strong all over the ground, although have been prone to taking the foot off the gas with United and Congupna outscoring them in the second half in consecutive weeks.
Tocumwal v Nathalia - 90 points. After stop-start season with three byes in first half of the year, Nathalia juggernaut starts to crank up for a tilt at the Four-peat.
Numurkah v Deniliquin Rams - 8 points Game of the round. If Marshall's still out suspended, then it's the Blues. If he's back then the Rams by the same margin.
Cobram v Finley - 54 points. Would love to see the Catters get one on the board, but can't see it this week
Moama v Mulwala - 120 points. Moama have one of the better home ground advantages in the league in my opinion, they play well on that postage stamp they call an oval. Long drive home for the Lions....
All the best lads.

Congupna - 20 points - if they play their flooding game as they did against us very hard to score a goal with everyone in the one forward 50
Tongala - 2 points - Upset of the round tonny will bounce back hard as i don't think they'd be happy with last week
Nathalia - 30 points - should carry on with the momentum from last week and put in a solid four quarter performance
Deni - 12 points - with our without Marshall i think they will win slowly building up to try and get back to their former glory
Cobram - 28 points - don't know much about Cobram as we haven't played them yet but should account for Finley easily enough
Moama - 72 points - should hand Mulwala another beating for the year Whyman to kick 6

Luke Moodie did the running for us last week, he busy with his work this year.
Marshall still got 1 more week and Ryan Chadderton suspended for 1 week for striking Mellington last week.

I Could be wrong there gorillaman, but I took his comments as being sarcastic and trying to downplay the hype on Nathalia:confused:
All games went as predicted with all favourites getting over the line, we tried our best to get over Barooga but giving them a 5goal 1pt to 1goal 5pt head start didnt help, got ourselves back in front at 3/4 time but they were the more organised and composed side in the last to get over the line. Our turnovers let us down again, but the endeavour and intensity of the boys was what it needs to be against the top sides and thats all you can ask for.
With Numurkah getting over Deni is the final six now set?

Good to see Mulwala's new recruit among the best players in his first game for the Lions, and also in the goalscorers list.

I think the going rate was 5 dim sims for getting in the best players and 2 dim sims per goal, including soy sauce. So going on that, I think he'd be pretty chuffed with his efforts.
As for Gutsy, he is just too keen. Racked up countless possessions throughout the game and then backed it up with the running duties in the seniors. Was trotting around like a new-born foal.

I Could be wrong there gorillaman, but I took his comments as being sarcastic and trying to downplay the hype on Nathalia:confused:
Spot on Hank. I didn't think it was too hard to see through. Especially with this symbol at the end of the quote:  Roll Eyes (Sarcastic).
That bloke had no idea.
your location is nathalia. Correct.
Yet you have played around the district. Wrong.
Then you pay out on them. Wrong.
You cant get a gig with them and they dont want you. Couldn't be further from the truth.
Maybe im not sure but they will be a class side come finals time they thrive for it. 1/2 point, because you weren't sure.
my friend...:thumbsu: Wrong.

Hey Bystanding or PurpleSaint,
I'm pretty sure I read in the footy record that a Nathalia bloke has been suspended for the rest of the season plus finals - is this right? If it is can you shed any light on why?

Thought i'd let you blokes know, we had a look at our stat sheet at last nights training and i'd just thought i'd put it on here.
D.Barnes 9 goals 42 possesions
needless to say he got best on, was an absolute masterful display of football from barnesy no one was able to stop him.

He's been playing a bit but i think he's still got a few more games to go before he reaches the cut off point which is good for Nathalia.
He nearly (a few other blokes had good games as well) single handedly cut Tocumwal to pieces

Powerful veterans still kicking goals in the country
Paul Daffey | July 9, 2008
EVERYONE loves a powerful forward, one who can take a big mark and bomb at goal from a long way out. Kids gather behind the sticks to watch the big forwards. Older fans drive hours to see them.
Northern Victorian fans have been treated to two of the best in recent years, Rochester's Anthony "Tank" McPhee and Brendon Parker of Nathalia. At 36 and 37 respectively, they're both solidly in the veteran class. Fans might consider seeing them before the end of this season or risk not seeing them at all.
McPhee gained his nickname when he was a solid teenager in Bamawm, which is just outside Rochester. At 183 centimetres, Collingwood six-footer height, he's built his career around contributing his share to a multi-pronged forward line.
In 1989, when Tank was 17, he announced himself as a Goulburn Valley Football League star by kicking 13 goals against Tatura. On Saturday, also against Tatura, he played in his 400th game, all of them in the seniors, and all with Rochester.
He began the afternoon by running through a modest banner with his two sons, Harrison, 8, and Adam, 6. At half-time he had four goals. At the end of the game he had 10.
His effort in reaching double figures on the day he became the first footballer to play 400 games in one of the best country leagues made it a celebration to remember.
Parker began at Nathalia, north of Shepparton, before joining Goulburn Valley club Tongala as a 20-year-old in 1991, and revealing himself as a star by winning the competition best-and-fairest award as a centre half-forward.
Carlton drafted Parker in 1992 but his two seasons at Princes Park were curtailed by injury. In 1993, he did his knee while playing in his fifth senior game, against Sydney. At 187 centimetres he was unlikely to challenge Stephen Kernahan for a key-forward post and the Blues moved him on.
Parker later played 100 games as a mobile centre half-forward for North Adelaide, under coaches such as Darel Hart and Chris McDermott. He himself coached back at Tongala and was an assistant at Geelong league club club Newtown-Chilwell under former Geelong forward Terry Bright.
In 2004, Parker decided to complete the circle and return to his hometown club, Nathalia, where his enormous presence helped propel the club to a rare grand final, against Deniliquin. For the next three years, he was the key figure as the Purples broke a 30-year premiership drought and then won another two flags. In those four seasons, Parker kicked way over 100 goals in all of them.
This year a degenerative knee has lessened his influence but he's enjoyed his onfield tutoring for young forwards. Off the field he continues to hand out the awards after home matches, when he ribs the metrosexual midfielders about their bleached-porcupine haircuts and brings out a wig or a can of Mr Sheen for the balding defenders.
On Saturday, Parker kicked a season-high five goals as Nathalia pummelled Tocumwal. He and McPhee are both returning to vintage form as the season progresses. Their clubs are both looking to September.

it hasn't been mentioned but has anything came out of the Deni Twos actions after the game saturday against Numurkah???????
the coach and a handful of players confronted the umpires as they walked off the ground and gave them an ear full it was a disgrace. they wonder why we can't get good umpires! when a team who gets flogged by 10 goals and then goes off at the umpires as they walk off the ground they only make them selves look like idiots no one else.

Tongala v Echuca United - 8 points. Eagles in an upset. Much joy and merriment to be had at the footy club ball afterwards.
Barooga v Tocumwal - 18points. Byers to start pulling out his remaining hair after Barooga eases up in the second half yet again after leading by 8 goals at the main break.
Numurkah v Nathalia - Purps by 42 points. Have been some close games between these two over the last few years. Blues to hang in for a while and Purps to win going away late in the game.
Cobram v Deniliquin Rams - 24 points. Downie & Rudd to kick 8 between them and be the difference in the end.
Moama v Finley - 120 points. Small mercy for the Catters that Whyman is out, but plenty of other Mowers to cover for him. Hope there's plenty of cans for the long bus ride home for Sacco's boys.
Rumbalara v Mulwala - 54 points. Rumba to be a bit sluggish early after the week off, but to get home comfortably in the end.

Apparently they will be announced in the coming weeks. I wouldn't hold your breath on you guys getting a final. It seems that the MFL are very narrow minded as far as choosing finals venues goes. Cobram, Barooga, Tocumwal, Numurkah get them every year and Nathalia may get one this year.
I don't really have too much of a problem with how the MFL fixture the finals, but it would be good if clubs like Deniliquin, Moama, Echuca United, Tongala, Rumbalara, Mulwala and Congupna were on some sort of rotation system where they got a final at least once every three years.
I know travel distances are becoming increasingly prevalent with the rising cost of petrol, but it would be good to see some of the clubs on the outskirts of the league get finals, as most of them have facilities that are just as good as the main group.

I'm not sure but perhaps the PDFL and the MFL have a deal in place which allows the PDFL to play one or two finals a year there.
What's the surface like at Barooga heading towards the end of the season? From what I have seen, turf is usually spot on throughout the start of the season but it has been known to get a bit tired later in the year.
