View Full Version : Who will be picked for Burton - Jericho, Hentschel or Gill?
Who do you think will be picked and why?

Jericho will come in because it's Jericho. However if I was on the selection panel I'd pick Jericho to come in as well.
And also there's still question marks over Hentschel and Gill in terms of their fitness. I would like to give Hentschel a little bit more time and slot him back in after the mid year break .. Gill .. I don't know what the future holds for him. Soft tissue injuries are becoming a problem, I don't think he will do us much good if he comes in this week.
Jericho all the way!

I've gone with Jericho, mainly cause he was unlucky to be dropped in the first place. Though i can't wait to see trent back out on the park! Well Gill is a great fill in player, but with Tippett, Trent & the birdman up forward he won't and shouldn't get a game IMO ;)

Just wanted to clear up that when i was talking about Gill i meant for the future as Trent prob won't be in this week & the birdamn def won't be in this week, that looked a bit stupid! :o

Out of those three, it would surely be Jericho considering the club has indicated Hentschel and Gill still require more fitness.
McGregor has to come under consideration. Even if they bring him in as a key defender and move, say, Stevens forward which has been done at stages of the year.

probably should of written who do you want to come in... Jericho will get picked, if not McGregor. No brainer IMO

would love to see taylor and ottens/dangerfield come in for burton and mckay (think he needs a couple of weeks in sanfl to get confidence and form back) but cannot not see either happening. will probably be jericho much to my frustration. kenny would hav to be a strong chance wouldnt he

Jericho. Also, on the radio a week or so ago, someone from the club was on and I got the feeling from their comments that Gill was further away than Hentschel im not sure though because I havent followed his form in the SANFL enough.
I'd pick Trent Potential personally, but knowing the club it will most probably come to a decision between either Jericho and McGregor.

When Hentschel returns it will be for a home game. Mark this post.

Wouldn't it be magical if the selection panel decided to do something out of the ordinary :)

Would have thought McGregor the tall would get the gig.

it wont be based on the players, it will be the tactical deicsion as for who craigy wants matching up on who and which one of these three would best fill Birdmans spot or an already starting player filling that role and someone else moving into that persons role.
As said, based on the opponent, craig might opt for Kenny McGee and move stevens forward.
But PrideofSA is right, will be a home game. Unsure of how long it will take though, as our next 2 home games are against Hawthorn and Geelong in that order. Id pick him to start in the Hawks game - Defence isnt their strong point.

Not a like for like.
Too too true VVM.
But somehow i also don't see Luke standing atop someone's head pulling in screamers...and every other thing Birdman amazes us with.
Gill perhaps does some of those things... quite a bit of the time come to think of it. I mean dang! he and birdman at least have the same inaccuracy and unpredictability.
In this case there can never be a like for a like exchange.... more's the pity.
So do we go with a ground dweller or a tall or gamble on another enigma?
Think this will be a huge headache for selectors.

Jericho as he's the safest option, but I would rather Gill.
I think it'll be Jericho but I'd be happy if it was Gill.

It will be Jericho - he is the only one that could play up field and back with confidence at the moment and has played with the current plan (have we one?). He also tends to get the ball (when allowed to play) more than some players - unfortunately he does not always deliver with precision and that is his downfall.

Just heard Johnny Reid on the radio, he said they were "resting" Griffin because he's "a bit sore".
Campbell, Otten and Gill are emergencies. Surprised to see Gill as an emergency.
Edit: Reid said Griffin had been carrying it for a few weeks and the medicos thought he'd benefit from a week off.

I still love listening to KG and Cornesy :) Interesting, they had an interview with Terry Wallace but I got caught on the phone at the time. I thought I heard a question where Graham asked Terry about their draft pick #18 (Rance?) this year and asked how he was going and Terry kinda snidely replied something like "Well, how many of the Crows players are playing from last year's draft?". Did anyone else hear it?

John Reid said that Hentschel came "really close" to selection and that his training has been great. He indicated that he's probably only another week away from putting his name up for selection.

What was Graham's response?
I wonder if he meant last year's draft as in the Dangerfield draft, or as in the Sellar draft. Because for the latter we have a fair few playing, haha.
I assume he meant the most recent draft, though.

His name is Andy Otten! Not Ottens!
We should form a group called His name is Otten not Ottens, similar to the group, My name is Eevarn formed a couple of years ago (followed by the sequel Eevarn is Still my Name). Eventually the message might get through!

I'd like to join that group..... oh and could we also start an "It's GriffIN" group too???

I hope Luke 'one more chance' Jericho plays well today, I really do. I am not a huge fan, but he keeps popping back up. I think his theme some is "I Get Knocked Down" by Chumbawamba.
