Gold Coast have apparantly met with Geelong CEO Brian Cook to discuss him taking over the new club. according to a report on the radio this morning, frank costa has given his blessing.
sounds like a good move as cook is widely considered to be the best club CEO.
now, the media have already appointed voss as the GC coach (on a very long term contract).
what if cook thinks that it would be stupid for a brand new club to appoint an untried coach, with zero coaching experience, who has refused to take an assistant coach role to learn the ropes from an established coach ?
what if he remembers the bears trying to get started with peter nights and the weagles with ron alexander ?
i reckon that cook would want a big say in who the coach will be and I'm sure the issue would have been raised. If the GC have decided they want voss, then it would have been interesting to be a fly on the wall if cook thinks the last thing they need is a recently retired player with a massive ego, who's done nothing since retiring except perform very poorly as a tv commentator.
