Couldn't wipe the smile off my face today when reading the Melb Herald/Sun, which quoted BDO promoter Ken West in stating that they are chasing David Bowie, The Foo Fighters, Queens of the Stoneage and ... get this ... JANES ADDICTION for next years bill.
If only one of those mob make it, I'll be a very happy little Ghost ... If it happens to be the latter, I'll be taking a week off work either side to chase them around the country !!
Any other early rumours ???
I don't know why they don't try to entice R.E.M. to do the Big Day Out. It would be huge.

Queens of the Stoneage were out here two years ago. Why bring them out again? They were dead boring anyway.
Foo fighters......ditto, but at leat they were a bit more entertaining.
As for REM, do you want the ticket prices to be around $500?

Didnt see QOTSA when they played two BDO's ago as Mudvayne were on at the same time, but all teh reports i heard were that they were dead bloody boring.
David Bowie.....next
REM.....next
Janes Addiction - would be good!
I hope they can get Roni Size out here again...or someone like Sasha or Paul van Dyk or Digweed for the boiler room.
To take a guess id say the heavy act on the bill will be Soulfly - coming out to support their new album

Apparently they had a crack at REM a couple of years back, and came very close from all reports.
As for QOTSA ... they were magnificent in 2001. That 15-minute closing version of "I Can't Quit You Baby" will live on in my memory forever ... entrancing.
Though they're not a band for the JJJ-listening youngsters who like their standard little 3 and a 1/2 minute formula-rock songs.
And Macca, don't you hate the way they put the international acts up against each other !! They do it every bloody year. Why don't they pit the overseas stuff up against the stuff we've seen a million times, like Poofinger, and Grinspoon, and Jebediah, and Silverchair, and all of those other perennial Aussie kiddies bands ...
QOTSA..boring ?? didnt realise the flag bearers needed cheerleaders and perhaps a " rising " drumkit to entertain the kiddies ..same old stoner rock eh just relying on the music to get them through !!.....Saw them and was well impressed .. brilliant vibe in the crowd lots of rythmic head nodding..all old school Kyuss fans just there for the music ..... Janes Addiction !!! bring it on Man !!!!

Yeah, that's right mate.....Boring with a capital B. I hate bands with gimmicks as I like my rawk simple, but I also hate simply boring bands.
Some people call a 15 minute version of a song 'entrancing' or other such stuff, I call it self indulgent w*nk.
ps. GOJJ, I wouldn't listen to JJJ on purpose even if it meant saving the life of my family.

I've actually hunted around for that a bit myself Clucas, but as yet haven't turned it up. I'll let you know if I stumble upon it, though ....
How are ya' West Ham? Been a while. I see your boys drew with my Gunners 2-2 on Sat'dee ... Looks like we'll have to wait until later in the season to resolve it for 2002/03 ... Good to hear from you.

 I can't imagine they'd push the prices up any more than any of the other "big name" acts that have been on the bill in the past.
I also found QOTSA boring as batpoo in 2001.
Hadn't seen them before, but have long been a big fan of Kyuss, and was very disappointed to hear a band that had been hyped up in some circles as a continuation of Kyuss, to be quite poppy, and completely missing the big bass sound of the Kyuss albums.
Stoner rock? HAH! Go the Electric Wizard. They are THE sh1t.

Foo Fighters sounds good to me. I wish Blink182 can be at it... they fully kick some butt :D
