I enjoyed the IPL a fair bit but this is just way too much Twenty20 cricket for my liking.

I'm bored of T20. It's been overused. It's only not boring in India. Everywhere else, the novelty effect has worn off.

I wonder what the long-term effects of this are going to be.
This is the first step along the path to a soccer-style global structure, where franchises go head-to-head domestically to win the right to compete against sides from other countries.
That's the golden goose for Twenty20. If it gets off the ground, it's hard to see how Test cricket won't suffer.
There's heaps of money on offer. Aussie states side will be dead keen to win that kind of purse.

Waste of time.
So, what happens if there's a clash between State and IPL team? What wins out?
Edit: Nevermind, just read the article.

I got a bit bored of the IPL went on for too long. But a 10 day competition sounds good as there will be a bit of competition from nations, and you will see that our domestic 20/20 teams are way better than our International!

That is a disgrace.
Hussey has been playing for WA for over 10 years but because he played 3 matches for Chennai they get him. :thumbsd: :thumbsd:
Very disappointing, hopefully Cricket Australia can sort something out.
You liked the IPL, but 15 more games is now "way too much"?
That's right.
I was really into it at the start of the IPL, my interest lessened as the tournament was finishing. Now we have a whole new tournament....
Can't wait till summer so we can see some old fashioned test matches.

What would happen if Dave Hussey's county qualified? Hopefully he could still play for Victoria?

Yes, but he would have to play for the IPL if they were in the final.
And Aussie and Indian international players won't be playing. Due to the Champions trophy and the Indian tour.
And the international players won't be playing for half the tournament due to the Champions Trophy.

A good article by a SA journalist on the corrupting influence of money and India in the T20 set-up.

Good article. But what did he mean about the AFL part? That it's a franchise? It's not a franchise is it?
But yeah, it's ridiculous that the IPL think they own everything. It's not even the real Domestic competition!

Dont worry Notts are missing Swann Broad and Sidebottom who are playing for England .We wont win

I thknk it goes
1. IPL
2. Country
3. County
This is the tournament i've been looking forward to. Essentially the best of the best: much like UEFA Champions League
With the exception of IPL taking precedence - this should be good. Hussey should be playing for WA.
It should always be
1. team you've played most games for (ie. Hussey WA, or Swapnil Asnodkar - Rajasthan)
2. County
3. IPL

couldn't get into IPL, i only like T20 when it is on once per series
I'm bored of T20. It's been overused. It's only not boring in India. Everywhere else, the novelty effect has worn off.
Because the KFC Big Bash was a failure, because crowds don't go to the County games, because it isn't working in the Windies, NZ and Sth Africa...
