Who has the better Midfield??

Lade, Kornes, Cornes, Junior Burger, Salopek, Boak, Rodan, Cassisi

or

Cloke, Judd, Scotland, Stevens, Murphy, Bentick, Simpson, Gibbs?

I would go with this system

5 Judd, K.Cornes, C.Cornes
4 Scotland, Stevens, Murphy, Salopek, S.Burgoyne, Lade.
3 Bentick, Cassisi, Boak, Simpson.
2 Gibbs, Rodan
1 Cloke
so

Carlton 26
Port 30.

Hmmm..

I just did mine and it came up...

Carlton 75
Port 63.

Seriously though, stupid rigid "grading" systems aside, Carlton, but I think Port have some talent. Carlton's young brigade are better IMO, because Judd & Stevens aside, it is pretty much all youth. I may be wrong but isn't Boak Port's only genuinely young midfielder?

Boak is 20
Pearce 22
Logan 22
Cassisi 25
Salopek 22
Thomson 21
K.Cornes 25
Rodan 24.

Lots of younglins.

I'm sure we have a younger midfiled than Carlton. Chad is our only guy over 26. :thumbsu:

Port defently have the better midfield.

For three quarters us.

For one them.

On that fact, us.

But really everyone has a good midfield - it just depends on how they work together.

I think it's something like:

Judd > C.Cornes > S.Burgoyne > K.Cornes > P.Burgoyne > Murphy > Salopek > Stevens > Boak > Gibbs > Scotland > Simpson.

:D

So Port.

Actually I would put Murphy ahead of P Burgoyne, particularly given Burgoyne plays more as a sweeper across half back, while Murphy plays in the guts (a handy 33 possessions today while playing all day in the midfield).

Rodan as good as Gibbs? Dream on. lol. Cornes as good as Judd? lol. You're not off to a good start. This is a more accurate rating at the moment...

1. Judd (Best player in the AFL easily)
2. 3 Light years
3. Murph, Stevens
4. Burgoyne, Gibbs - although Gibbs will be a lot better
5. Scotland
6. Simpson, Boak, Grigg (star potential), Russell (star potential)
7. Bentick, Salopek, Browne (star potential), Carrazzo

Wouldn't really want the last group (8) on my list..

8. Rodan (ordinary), Cassisi (very ordinary), K Cornes (ordinary), C Cornes (a joke)

:)

Bentick 22
Simpson 24
Gibbs 19
Hadley 25
Kreuzer 19
Hampson 20
Carrazzo 24

Considering Stevens is the only 1 over 25 its safe to say Port definitely have the older midfield :) and side for that matter since we are the youngest list in the comp.

Maybe you should do some research before you post stupid things.

Yeah, I can see where you're coming from. However, despite the difference in roles, I think when both in the midfield, Burgoyne is better. That's nothing against Murphy, I just think Burgoyne is a brilliant player who should spend more time in the guts. Either way, I still have Port slightly ahead. But obviously, it's not about individuals, it's about the midfield as a unit, and Carlton's seem to have excellent chemistry. Port's do too, so I don't know, you shouldn't ask this when a match between them is fresh in our minds! :p

FWIW, I think Port has the second best midfield in the league.

Hmmmmm.... I know this is a piss take, but you could at least make it subtle.

...FWIW, I think Port has the second best midfield in the league. ...

lol. Do you actually watch any football games? Next you'll be telling us your Port-Collingwood team doesn't choke. :)

You just ranked the likes of Bentick and Browne ahead of Kane Cornes, Chad Cornes and one of the Burgoyne brothers (not sure which, as you didn't specify). And you're asking me if I watch football?

You should actually do some research because we have the youngest OVERALL list in the AFL.

Correct. Don't rate Kane Cornes. Never have. Grossly over-rated. Average .Chad's a complete joke. Burgoyne is quality but a very very outside midfielder and goes missing when it counts e.g. like today and like the GF. :)

Wrong. The Blues have the youngest list in the AFL in 2008. That's just a FACT. :)

1. Judd (Used to be the Best player in the AFL easily)
2. K.Cornes, C.Cornes
3. Murph, Stevens, Salopek
4. S.Burgoyne, Rodan, Gibbs, Boak (already better than Gibbs)
5. Scotland, Cassisi
6. Simpson, Grigg (star potential, Maybe, Actually went to my H.S), Russell (star potential), (That just made my night)
7. Bentick, Browne (star potential), Carrazzo

:)

I edited in the real rankings.

K.Cornes (don't rate him): Of course you wouldn't you've never seen a player at your club ever get 30+ possesions week in, week our and contain his opposition to less than 20 each week (usually) and always lines up on the oppositions best midfielder. You just jealous.

Chad (joke): Just like Kane you have no player at your club that can play any position and excel at that position. Jealous.

Burgoyne (goes missing): Which one?? Peter is no longer a midfielder so how can you say he goes missing when it counts. He is a HB rebounder. :o

Jealous of Chad. lol. Here's the deal Port-Collingwood Supporter- Chad and your coach made it clear you'd beat this talented young Carlton side easily, but you were completely humiliated on your home turf today. It was a monumental Choking implosion. :)

Pretty accurate imo; however i'd probably put C.Cornes higher, K.Cornes higher, Simpson higher, Scotland higher, and Judd higher
