dont know how ben lynch gets a game ahead of melonIt does amaze me, it amazes me how any one of the alvie seniors boys can get a game ahead of a player of melons calibre. I was also lucky enough to witness the under 17s game between the western eagles and Alvie on the weekend. Was an enjoyable hard fought match for a half before the swannies broke away. But easily the highlight of my day was witnessing perhaps the biggest nose that exists in our world today, one of the young alvie boys, the CHF i think he was, seriously it was hanging 10 cm off the ground. God it was a big snoz. Hate to be that kid.
Happy posting B-HAWK

Hey Boom, just reading through the results and noticed Alvie got a fari touch up from Lorne, what's the story here? I know Lorne a fairly tough to beat at home but 14 goals is a fair smashing? Did you guys have many out? Where did you see both sides at now?

Had a couple out but were outplayed and embarrassed yesterday. Even at 1/4 time but they shot clear in the 2nd quarter and it was all over. no c.kelly or cass and a.kelly only played a quarter and mccrickard got injured also but they were too good.

Big game for alvie tomorrow...lets take a look at alvies line up
RYAN MCKENZIE
Ever reliable small defender who is rarely if ever beaten. Determined, loads of courage and pace to burn, Ryan is alvie's most consistent defender this year and i would imagine, the most coachable player you could find.
JOSH MCDONALD
Smacko has been in and out abit throughout the season but has really cemented his spot a full back of late with some good form. A penetrating kick and a great set of hands, will get a big job each week in defense how he fares is vital to the sides performance
BRAD MURNANE
An ex falcon is is almost the perfect back pocket in that he can play on good players and stop them while still running off and getting kicks the other way. Has good skills has been a good player for alvie this year
ANDRE DELERENZO
Last years under seventeens league b and f winner has made a successful transition from juniors to seniors this year. Has a great leap and runs all day and will not stop trying, an exciting prospect for alvies future
SCOTT NOLAN
Has been put into defense recently as he is no longer required in the ruck division. Is tall and can play on a good tall forward or can go forward and provide a target up forward. Important player for alvie
LUKE MCCARTHY
Quick and hard running defender who can break the lines with his run and terrific foot skills. Courageous and has fought back from injuries in recent years to be a consistent performer this year. Like your typical AFL back flanker and offers great drive and vision out of defense.
LIAM MCGUANE
Is still eligible to play under seventeens next year which is testament to his ability. Smart is perhaps the best word to describe leo. Not overly quick but can make opposition players look stupid with his footy smarts which are his greatest weapon. Great skills although has been known to get the yips in front of goals. The best junior in the cdfl and a star of the future although he is abit of a girl at times
ps. dont tell him i said that
ANDREW KELLY
Alvie's prized recruit is a very important cog in the workings of the alvie midfield. Terrific ball winner who can hurt other sides through sheer weight of possessions. Has A Grade credentials from the GFL in previous years and cops heavy attention from the opposition week in week out.
BEN LYNCH
junior still finding his feet in seniors
TYSON FINNIGAN
Remarkably strong small midfielder/forward flank who has great skills and is a hard ball winner for alvie. Quick and is known to perform on the big stage a handy player.
JOSH GOONAN
In my opinion the best centre half forward in the league. Terrific in front of goal and takes a good grab. Great set of hands and is a great leader on the ground. Can kick goals from a long way and very hard player to stop.
ADAM ABUTHNOT
Strong player who can kick a goal. One on one is very good and can find sace and untilise that especially on the big grounds.
PAUL CASS
The veteran from alvie is a marvel in that he can still play as well as he is at his age. Lethal kick on his left foot and is capable of kicking a bag while still bringing others into the match at the same time. If there was a kick after the siren that needed to be kicked you would pick this guy which says something about his character as well as his kicking at goal capabilities.
CHRISTIAN KELLY
Won the league goalkicking a coupe of seasons back and unfortunately has only shown glimpses of that form this year however, stepped up last week which was pleasing and one would suggest that he is starting to hit form at the right time. Capable of being the difference in a close game and is a player the opposition cant give a sniff or he could break the game open
LUKE RICHES
Experienced campaigner who has been one of alvies best players for years and still is a top liner. Came back from a knee injury this year and is a tough ball winner who plays with heart and character and can be pencilled in to lift when his side needs him
SHANE ROWE
Came out of retirement a couple of weeks back and has slotted straight back into this side nicely. Perhaps the best tap ruckman of the past decade, gives his on ballers first use and is a handy inclusion late in the year
JOEL FLANAGEN
Has been one of alvies best this year and is ever consistent. Only needs 15 kicks to have an impact on the game as he is a great user of the ball. Most weeks would have 30 touches and 25 good ones and is a great player. Tough and can run the ball, a great player for Alvie this year.
TOM McCRICKARD
Is something of a freak. Athletic ability is the best you will find anywhere in this region and has that X factor which can break games open. Kicks goals, runs the ball, good kick, freakish leap and good hands, has all the attributes which make him one of the best couple of players in the league.

Ok so this is the story. On saturday with about 4 minutes remaining in the final quartet, alvie player ben gibson received innapropriate taunts about his mother from otway player paul presani. After some push and shove gibson let go with two punches to the back of presani's head. Gibson has been reported but would should have been a minor incident with a 1 or 2 week penalty is now looking serious. Otway have been sooking since they lost the encounter and are claiming that presani has a broken cheekbone and has had to have cat scans on his brain and all. Any one who knows gibbo knows that yhe is incapable of causing such damage but otway are milking it for all its worth. Tribunal hearing is wednesday night. Hopefully the board dont fall for there nonsense.

Interesting that Otway are taking that stand, they received a warning letter from the league (maybe VCFL) after a Reserves player broke an opposition players jaw in an off the ball incident.

6 weeks was probably a due consequence...gib can have an extended holiday
