gee its great when its just TRAIL games isnt it. TRIAL being the operative word here.

TRIAL - a process or mode of testing qualities. An experimental treatment.
Match or competition held to select players for a team

read it, and learn it

To be honest, I couldn't give a **** about what happens in trial games - hence the reason why I haven't replied.

Don't you have anything better to do? Coming on here, and posting topic after topic just to spite me, shows what a tragic life you must lead.

Well I seem to remember you taunting me over the results of Essendons trials ! Now you turn around and say they mean nothing ! When your teams win the trials you say there are vital but when they are losing like yours are now you say they dont mean a thing ! You hypocrite ! haha

Easty you've really got no idea do you! You've come out slagged off every body elses team when your own team had lost every game up to this weekend! It's only pre season, it's all trial games....and they are exactly what the say...trial and error. I think you'll find you are probably one of a few people who actually do care about the pre season Easty.

Bring on Round One.....then we watch you piss off and disappear into your little hole and hopefully you'll never return.

No there is no difference. You lost by 97 POINTS!!!!! That a outright drubbing. South lost by 8 goals against a team that could of IMPROVED over the summer!!! Did you ever think of that Easty?? Where is it a rule that you have to be shit each year, or great each year??

take a look at norths squad ! They havent improved this year at all, south look ordinary too they havent really gained, go south you were carrying on about essendon losing trials so you do place importance in them

An interesting round of trial games:
Eagles very impressive as Glenelg were playing well. Bays had a few out but margin very impressive.
South would be worried at slow start as I think many predict them to improve.
Great sign for North but pity about injury to young Ivens.
Port look solid and appear certain to improve .Hard to gague Doggies state of mind given recent tragedy.
Norwood and Sturt both look competitive. Difficult to make a call on West

Oh no they weren't!

The Bays were deplorable - they played with no cohesion.

But yes, the Eagles were impressive. They look set to have a good year. They & Port look like the teams to beat, early on.

You say we "look" ordinary. Have you actually seen us play this year? Or are you just going by the pissy little 10 word summary in the Sunday Mail?

Trial games don't mean shit! Get over it!

I wasn't "carrying" on about Essendon losing trial matches - You brought up the point of how my teams were performing, so I was merely reminding you, that Essendon's performances have been worse. You say we should "look in our own backyards" first... well take some of your own advice, ********, and take a look before you start giving everyone else shit!

Honestly, you are the thickest f*ckwit, I have ever had the mis-pleasure of coming into contact with.

What has this got to do with anything?!

I have been to every game, and I intend to get to as many games as possible...

Once again, take a look in your "own backyard", ********. YOU ARE THE REIGNING WOODEN SPOONERS - and will be for another 6 months.

By your theory - you have no right to criticise anybody, since Glenelg's "backyard", is the home of the wooden spoon.

Do you not have anything better to do? Surely, there must be something else you can find to entertain yourself, other than coming on here, and abusing people when their teams don't win.

Imagine if everyone was as pathetic as you - Almost every week of 2000, a new "GLENELG LOST" topic would have appeared.

Focus on your own ****ing team instead of everyone elses, you narrow minded twat.

Let's make things fair here...lets have a look at Glenelg's draw who were handed the wooden spoon last year:

ROUND 1Glenelg Vs Sturt (Glenelg)
ROUND 2 Saturday 7 April Port Adelaide Vs Glenelg (Alberton)
ROUND 3 Saturday 14 South Adelaide Vs Glenelg (Noarlunga)
ROUND 4 Friday 20 April Glenelg Vs Central District (Glenelg)
ROUND 5 Wednesday 25 April West Adelaide Vs Glenelg (Richmond)
ROUND 6 Saturday 5 May Glenelg Vs Eagles (Adelaide)
ROUND 8 Sunday 20 May Glenelg Vs North Adelaide (Glenelg)
ROUND 9 Saturday 26 May Sturt Vs Glenelg (Unley)
ROUND 10 Glenelg Vs South Adelaide (Glenelg)
ROUND 11 Friday 8 June * Norwood Vs Glenelg (Norwood)
ROUND 12 Saturday 16 June Glenelg Vs Port Adelaide (Glenelg)
ROUND 13 Saturday 30 June West Adelaide Vs Glenelg (Adelaide)
ROUND 14 Saturday 7 July Eagles Vs Glenelg (Woodville)
ROUND 15 Saturday 14 July Central District Vs Glenelg (Elizabeth)
ROUND 17 Saturday 28 July Glenelg Vs Norwood (Glenelg)
ROUND 18 Glenelg Vs Port Adelaide (Glenelg)
ROUND 19 Saturday 11 August Sturt Vs Glenelg (Unley)
ROUND 20 Sunday 19 August Glenelg Vs Eagles (Glenelg)
ROUND 21 Saturday 25 August) Glenelg Vs West Adelaide (Glenelg)

Instead of bagging the opposition, why dont you tell us exactly, in what areas do you think Glenelg will improve this year? How many games do you think they can win? Only two home games at Brighton within the first 6 rounds and then the bye in R7. Eagles have no fear of Adelaide Oval in Round 6 no advantage there. You're away form would want to be good, particularly in Round 2 at Alberton.

oh I really liked this message at the Official Glenelg website too:

This site had become dated owing to a complete lack of interest shown by the powers that be at the Glenelg Football Club. The Glenelg Football Club obviously has no interest in maintaining an official presence on the Web. Therefore I have removed the site.

If I might voice my opinion:

Drawing a home game first up was good for the Bays, and I do think that they will beat Sturt. The Blues haven't been overly impressive in their trials, Glenelg won the corresponding fixture last year, and Glenelg usually does well in the opening round.

However it gets a bit icky after that... South at Noarlunga could go either way. The Bays perform fairly well there, I think this game will be a good measuring stick for both clubs. Port at Alberton so early in the season - particularly being Port's first match of the season, fresh from the initial bye - will not be healthy. Central will be a good test - if Glenelg has improved then the match is winnable, but I wouldn't pencil it in just yet. West at Richmond is also winnable, I do think West will struggle when it doesn't have Richo in the side. As you say, Eagles at Adelaide will be hard - since the Eags have beaten the Bays by over 90 points in each of their last 5 matches you'd have to give this to WWT. However Glenelg should beat North at home the week after.

So in summary - Glenelg's start to the season will likely be average. If they have not improved they will not win more than a couple of the first 7; if they have improved they could win 4, maybe even 5 with a lot of luck.

Glenelg has not drawn too well in the "double home matches" either: Hosting Port twice will be awkward, likewise travelling to Unley twice will be awkward.

I am a bit concerned that 4 of the Bays last 5 games are at home. If Glenelg was a good-to-average club I'd be happy about this, since it would provide a good run into the finals. However if the Bays play as poorly as they have done in previous seasons - then the season could well be over by the time round 17 comes along, and the home games will lose all meaning and indeed advantage. I'd be happier if the Bays had their home matches distributed closer to the start of the season - a few early wins at home would help to get the lads' confidence up.

Well that's what I reckon. Hope springs eternal, I do believe the Tigers will be better performed than last year - but realistically I can't see them making the 5 - who would they replace? Still it's hard to judge when the team is full of recruits.

See you down the Bay.

I agree, I know we have improved, look at our gains and you will see the depth is there. I expect to beat Sturt and I truly believe with our depth that we can win as many home games as we did 2 years ago, I think we only lost 1 home game that year, lets make the bay a place teams fear to travel like in the past. It is one of, if not the best ground in the league so lets improve our record there and give the hometown fans something to cheer about !

Im not kidding, it is a great oval, the stands are good, there is alot of grass in the outer for the fans and its got a good atmosphere on the terraces, plus your close to the action and its in a great location, You cant talk, your oval is cold as hell and has no atmosphere whatsoever, the only positive being that it is the closest to me !

easty, to you a fantastic oval means grass inthe outer!!! Dont worry that Glenelg oval is basically a cow paddock with no drainage and the grass is dead and rock hard in the centre. As long as it has grass in the outer, then that is the main thing

Gee it's hard enough being a Glenelg supporter without having to be compared to ********s like Easty. Brings shame on the whole club.

In my opnion we will improve this year. My information is that the coach has great respect, and might I add thats the first time that's happened down the Bay for some years, and we have recruited (on paper anyway) some good players.

Lets face it it couldn't be any bloody worst than last year. The main thing that I hope I see this year is some of the pride that players used to have when they pulled on a Glenelg jumper. That's been sadly lacking for some time now.

macca, I am not a player so like all fans I rate the grounds on spectator facilities and Glenelg is one of the best for that.
Go south, are you going to comment about oval facilities or arent you going to fight that one because it is known that noarlunga is a bad place to watch footy
