With that loss tonight they are left on 10 wins with a game to go. Even if they win there last game there percentage is too bad to make the 8 and the only way they can make it now is if WC and Essendon lose both there remaining games and the Hawks win in round 22. Highly unlikely.

Which leaves us with 9.

Brisbane, Port and Adelaide are safe. That leaves Collingwood and North on 12 wins, reasonably safe and should make it. So then we have 4 teams fighting for 3 spots. Melbourne and Essendon have it pretty easy and should win there last two games respectively.

Leaving Geelong and WC. Geelong are in the box seat, they can lose both and still make it because West Coast HAVE to win at least one game. All very interesting...can we make it? Who knows, that question will be all but answered around 9pm this evening.

Just been thinking the same thing.

Fate is in our hands.

Who does Geelong play round 22 ?

The Hawks :(

So we need Hawthorn to beat Geelong....not sure how that will pan out. We could avoid all this nonsense by just winning our last two games!

Even if we win our last 2 games, there's a chance we'll miss on the 8. So there is NO way we'll make it in on 11 wins. Just our luck, one of the most closely fought battles for the top 8 happens in the season when we make our recovery from mediocrity.

If we beat port this week, it comes down to the game against Nth. Beat them by a margin that will have our % above theirs, and we're in. We cannot rely on Geelong losing.

In some ways, finishing 9th instead of 8th could be a positive. We all know the eagles have no chance of winning an away final, so making the 8 could be setting us up for a 60pt humiliation. Not something the boys need hanging over their heads all pre-season. However, finishing in 9th could leave the boys hungry for finals footy, eager to make the 8 in 2003.

I can see the Hawks beating Geelong! Geelong have been patchy and so have Hawthorn, besides....the Hawks will be determined to go out with a bang!

GO BRISBANE!

The more Brisbane flog Geelong by, the greater chance we have of making the finals if we both finish on 44 points.

If we beat Port or Roos, then Geelong lose their next two games (Brisbane & Hawthorn) and Essendon win their next two, we will finish on equal points with Geelong on 44 points. If we have the higher percentage we will go through.

I can't believe it !

Half time and geelongs percentage has dropped nearly 3% Another 6% and hawks can overtake them next week with a narrow win.

Is it Lethal giving us a leg up ?

i think we might be 7 if we win this week. wohoo

love it when it goes in our favour

don't wanna count my chickens before they've hatched but if we win tonight, we've just got the kangas minus archer to overcome. and you never know, if the draws in our favour we might be able to lose my a small margin and stay in

Woohoo, Sydney have towelled up Melbourne with Neitz reported whilst Brisbane have given Geelong a hiding! Also Hawthorn seem to be out of the picture with their percentage only 90

If everything goes according to plan, we can be as high as 6th on the ladder after Rd. 21 (although 7th or 8th is more realistic since Essendon will take Freo to the cleaners)

Gotta win tonight

If we win tonight and Hawthorn beat Geelong next week, we're most probably in.
