View Full Version : Well done Ratten
Don't know if this has been mentioned elsewhere, however it just occured to me that at the halfway point of the season, Ratten has coached our team to more wins than the other 3 new coaches combined.
I doubt any of us would have believed this at the start of the year (or thought it would at last mean we were in the 8), but regardless, I thought this deserves its own thread, and our chance to give him a virtual pat on the back for a job well done so far.
Seems our selection process worked well after all :thumbsu:
I am replying to my own thread simply because no one else did :(
...well done...ahhh, again....who am i kidding, :(

He's doing a good job, but makes mistakes still, which is to be expected.
He's growing in stature with the playing group every week.
He's the right man for the job :thumbsu:

Lol @ the people who wanted Voss and thought an ex-Carlton player coaching would be a bad thing. He really seems to have bought some spirit back!

Was really impressed with ratts bringing judd and a couple of other mids off for a rubdown and powerade whilst the stretcher was out in the last qtr.
Ratts - the thinking coach.

I just think Ratts and Bailey are so much more impressive than both the other new coaches and will both be very good for a long time.

Did some coaching on the weekend the lad. :thumbsu:
He was care taker last year - first season as coach - on target to do better than the last three years of pagan combined.......

guys, i thought about this thread and it's quite simple. the guys are playing with the one thing that we haven't done for the last few years. HEART. michael jordan said "give me five guys with average talent, good fundamentals and big hearts and i will take my chances any day of the week". carlton is playing with heart and it's great to see.
keep it going boys.

He did a great job, but I also don't think we should lose sight of the fact that it took 3/4 to make a fairly obvious change in style on the weekend. Would have like to see it come a little earlier to be honest.
But he's still learning and the signs are all positive - I think he's going to be a great coach for the CFC

More than the wins, I think he's developing this young side in the right way. He puts faith in the young players, and encourages them to back themselves even if they stuff up doing so. At the same time he demands high standards and puts players on notice after a poor effort. His gameplan has evolved as well. We actually have a gameplan now and a system that we are working on and refining each week. Players have clearly defined roles, and when the inevitable injuries happen, we have players ready to step up and take on that particular team role. We've actually managed to sneak out some decent wins, despite having a sizable injury list because of this. We're just much better organized than last year and the players as individuals and the team more importantly is developing as a result. :)

He did, although i though he could've been more proactive about our stagnant forward structure earlier.
Btw i was up in your neck of the woods yesterday Thy. Didn't manage to see any Thylacine but i did see a Lyrebird.
