View Full Version : Second half debutantes???
The second half of the year is going to be an interesting one. We have tried a number of new players in the first half and still managed to have a 5/6 ratio.
As we are all aware we need to get game time into the rest of the new players to get them ready for next year(Benjamin, Hartlett, Pfieffer, Austin, Anderson & Jackson) and at the same time try and keep giving game time to the existing new comers of Kruezer, Armfield, Brown, Edwards, Grigg, Hadley, Russell, & Jamison.
Some of this may happen very near the end of the year especially if it becomes clear that we cannot make the eight.
I woud appreciate you all forgetting about who to trade off and who we must get from oter teams and think of how we could manage the above scenario.

The guys who debut will spend their time in the two's again at some stage or another. It's just the way things work out.
Injuries come around too unfortunately and that opens the door.
It's a week by week proposition. Also need to remember that the guys in the seconds need to perform to work their way into the side.

Forget Hartlett, seriously. No player who gets that many hammies so early in his career ever gets right. Sad, but put a line through him and move on I reckon

The only guy I can think of that has a chance to debut in the 2nd half of the season would be Benji, but he's got a way to go.
As per the first half of the season, guys like Hammo, Armfield, Kreuzer, Grigg, Browne, Hartlett, Edwards, Pfeiffer, Jackson etc. will be given opportunities to perform in the seniors. The onus is on them to really perform throughout the year and continue to push for selection.
With regards to the players that have made their debuts but haven't been seen this season (eg. Anderson, Austin), I expect that we will see them at some stage. Players come in and out of the side on a regular basis, so it would surprise me greatly if we didn't see them at some stage.
Don't think that Aisake will get a game.

If any of Cloke, Kreuzer or Hampson go down injured in the 2nd half of the season i'd much rather see Sam "Redgend" Jacobs get a game than Hackland.
Only other guy who hasn't played a game yet who might get a go is Aisake.

i agree with johnny, with Sammy J getting a game ahead of hackland. ackland had an opportunity earlier in the year, and basically stuffed it up
Perhaps only Clint Benjamin for mine would debut in the second half of the year. Seems to have come a fair way since last year, although, I still suspect he is a little way off.

Would Benji be a smokey for Eddie if he doesn't come up this week?

Promote A.J for Bower, with his pace and agility reckon he might go o.k a level up. Just pray his kicking has improved a bit :o

Benjamin still sounds like he is a long way away from AFL standard. Needs to learn how to use his pace and kicking still needs work.

Sorry for coming across but I just have one question. Will Armfield play the rest of the season do you reckon? Like every game, I haven't seen him and am looking at trading him for Bird in Dreamteam.
I know this might be a little off topic but I didn't clog the board with a new thread.

I would like to think so. Based on his past 2 games I have him ahead of Browne at this stage.

I also would love AJ to develop more. I'm hoping he can be Nathan Foley #2.

Couldn't agree more but I wouldn't play Kreuzer in the ruck much more this season.
So if Cloke or Hampson are missing then Jacobs or Aisake should be tried.

Has played some handy games with Ants, might be a chance of a game.
