View Full Version : Travis Cloke in trouble?

Did anyone else see the Melbourne player(Warnock?) and Travis Cloke have a little wrestle today? Nothing sinister so far but then i noticed the dees player bleeding from his left eye. A replay clearly showed that Cloke headbutted him! Something the AFL doesnt take lightly.

Me thinks he deserves at least a week:p

Or else we can get past the whole "we need opposition key players out of the game in order to win" mindset and thump a full strength Collingwood side:)

Pretty poor to rely on suspensions, but hey, Travis Cloke probably jumped for joy when Bowzer got injured.

it would give us a greater chance of winning... it doesn't matter how good a team is, if a key player of the other team is out then you think yay, we have a better chance.

yeah nahh. give it up.
if he gets a week, goodes should've gotten four. he was wrestling 3 players at one point and in that situation, arms elbows shoulders and heads get thrown around beyond the control of players, so someone is always bound to get a shy one everynow and then.

hopefully he gets suspended for at least one match, he played VERY poorly today, not as much spectacular marks as usual, and i dont think he kicked a goal at all, so methinks hes up for a big one against us if he plays:)

Collingwood aren't as good as everyone thinks they are. So far this year, they have beaten Fremantle (MCG), Richmond (MCG), Essendon (MCG), Melbourne (MCG), West Coast (MCG), Geelong (MCG) and St.Kilda (TD). Aside from Geelong, they have not beaten anyone yet.

Lets see how they go when they face Western Bulldogs (TD rd 13), Sydney (Syd rd 14), Adelaide (MCG rd 15), Kangaroos (TD rd 16), Hawthorn (MCG rd 18), Port (AAMI rd 20), Sydney (TD rd 21) and Fremantle (S rd 22)

Well we know they got thumped by the Hawks already.
And the Roos beat them as well.

This works both ways HBF

You've beaten Collingwood(MCG), Melbourne(MCG), West coast(Subi), Fremantle(TD), Port(FB).

Yes you beat us but im hearing you are an outside chance for finals, now if we are overrated with four wins in a row(including a pumping of teh raining premeir who hadnt lost until then), then what does that make you guys? not so much an outisde finals chance.

Id also expect us to beat adelaide, Port, Freo and at least sydney once aswell, we should beat the roos who only just scraped past us last time.

Will be a good game none the less

You can't just say "besides Geelong". We beat the best team in the competition by 86 points. We followed it up with a 100 point annihilation of West Coast, who are poor, but it's 100 points nonetheless. We are (or were, before today) in good form. We played poorly against the Roos, yet were comfortably beating them in the last quarter. Same goes for the Brisbane match. We just let both matches go in the last (disgusting last quarters, something I get angry about to this day).

Anyway, who cares, finals can be discussed when they come about.

You lost to Hawks by 10 goals. I consider Hawks to be the best side in the comp. The dogs beat the hawks, so it will be interesting how the Pies go against them.

I would be happy to concede that a team is only as good as it's last game.
That said. Collingwood are clearly the underdog.
Remembering of course that we have not beaten Melbourne on QB long weekend for four years and it was the highest score we have kicked against them since 2003.
Your blokes are over the moon with the win v Port and rightly so.

Which win has the more merit depends totally on where you sit. They both only earned 4 points and next week is a new book.

Cloke would be unlucky to even get cited I would think.

I know I would rather beat a "full side".

Gotta love Collingwood fans claiming that because they beat Geelong they are so much better than Carlton. Great teams like Geelong don't get smashed by 86 points just like that, obviously they were off their game that night, great teams don't capitulate like that. As for beating WC by 100 points....are you aware they are at rock bottom as a club and playing poorly against North...well i guess Carlton have played poorly for years now.

Like HBF said, apart from Geelong, Collingwood have proven nothing against better teams, their wins are against the bottom 5 teams, and struggled against the bottom team, if it wasn't for the 3rd quarter what would have happened??

Nobody here are saying Carlton are any better or world beaters, but to hear Collingwood supporters claim they are better than they are is very laughable...the fan who said they should be 9-2 is beyond help.

If Carlton make it a double this weekend, Collingwood are in serious doubt for serious finals contenders, as Carlton are missing many of their best 22, especially down back with Walker, Bower, Jammison all missing.

Will be a very interesting game!!

Please play Harry O on fev again, please!!! but if that fails then please play Natahan Brown....Fev needs a big day out and these two will help!!

come on credit where credit is due
we have just won 4 in a row the lsat time carlton achieved that was early 2001
no ur right geelong on an off nite would beat most teams and if not lose by a small amount..however they were pumped..and if u take the first 3minutes of the third quarter out of it we beat them by 104pts...undefeated to that point is hardly an 'off-night'
and if u had watched the brisbane and kangaroos game u would agree we more then wasted our chances and its own fault for our inaccuracy towards goals
we played saint kilda when they were still in the 4 so they were in form at the time

stop trying to pick through our matches and worry about urs...cause its been 7years since u guys last achieved wat we have done over the last month

ur wins have come against the bottom 4, and 5 of the bottom 6 not to mention u lost to essendon and richmond
so dont get your knickers in a knot about collingwood fans saying we are in better form then carlton, cause truth be told, we are

in saying that however everyone knows form/ladder position/ whos the better team doesnt seem to have much influence on carlton collingwood games and should be a good game

We lost to both RFC and Ess when we had even more players out than we do know, and you'll see over the next month, we'll beat both of them this time round as most players will be back and players like Judd and Stevens are fitter, both had limited preseasons which was evident in those games.

I didn't say we had beaten anybody high up the ladder, but apart from Geelong neither have Collingwood, so what is your point, if you are prepared to put Carlton down then back it up and put Collingwood down as they are no better, but feel free to come back after player the Hawks again, the Dogs, the Swan, the Crows and then Geelong again, reality might hit then.

I'll give you credit for the Geelong win, the intensity was fantastic.

Just on what Carlton have done in the past 7 years we all know that, but 2008 is a new start for Carlton, totally new coach, game plan, staff, and players...i don't expect to be anything liek we were for the past 7 years.

I have no problems with Collingwood fans saying they have better form thatn Carlton as that is true when you look at games won over the past 4 games, but there is a difference between form and being as good as you think you are.

I wouldn't base it on what Goodes would get.

If Goodes instead of Hall had of thrown that punch on Staker he might have got 1 week.

The tribuneral clearly are looking at the damage inflicted, which, to a large extent is not determined by the intention of the guilty party.

Goodes hit was very similar to Burgoynes. One player gets up, the other unconscious and going into a flexor tone on the field.

Goodes gets 1 week, but off with the early plea, and Burgoyne gets 3.

Go figure.

Goodes last year punched a Dees player in the back. Got off no worries. Gehrig would not get the same compassion.;)

At least Fev got off.

u said before about us saying we are in ebtter form because beat geelong
u dont need to worry about what we are doing and instead of analysing us u should analyse yourselves
im sure there were some melbourne supporters there today who were incredibly confident they would pump us...i dont care no one does...dont let it get to u
dont worry about us...enjoy ur victory and celebrate that...thats all im saying

i cant recall seeing any posts about carlton being confident on the collingwood board (i may be wrong) but a majority of ppl dont give a shit

I think they probably will. And if we get pantsed in the middle a second time, Fev will probably kick another bag. That's the key. Our midfield work rate and pressure last time was so pathetic that just about any fullback would've have struggled to keep Fevola in check.

The level two misconduct charge was assessed as reckless, low impact and high contact by the match review panel.

So you can dish out a 'Liverpool Kiss' spilt a blokes head open,
be found guilty, then get a reprimand
because there are degrees of impact to be considered?

I heard this AM that the Pies are considering challenging the Cloke reprimand.

I saw the vision this AM and from the angle I saw there really didn't seem to be anything in it...........but if he fails to have the reprimand quashed, does he risk being suspended?

I don't understand, other than to get rid of the overhanging points, why you would challenge when you haven't been suspemded, and risk coping a week.

Is there something here that I have missed? Seems weird.
