1st Quarter, Moloney streaming away. Wheatley puts his arms out covering a bit of fresh June air, as Scotty Burns scoots past and throws Moloney into the turf.
Most insipid bit of football I've seen so far this year, which is a shame considering I think Wheatley's had a pretty decent season thus far.
Rightly got himself a spray from Beamer.

This had me fuming when I saw it. Particularly since I think Bailey has been trying to introduce shepherding as a big part of our game plan.
Rubbish attempt by Wheatley when it was quite clear what Burns' (or was it Lockyer??) intentions were.
Hopefully he can learn from his mistake.

Agreed. It was terrible and you could see it happening from the moment Moloney got the ball. It's stuff like this that we need to get out of our game. Not only did he not shepherd he didn't even tell Moloney someone was bearing down on him.
Didn't see it but thought a few of Jace Bode's were terrible.

____ me that was ugly. You could see it coming from a mile off and just when you thought he was going to get in the way he lost his mind and wandered off. I don't dislike Wheatley but when your only talent is roosting a ball 60m and not hitting a target then you might want to do some of the hard things.
Yeah, at first look, I thought 'Jeez Beamer needs better vision than that', then I realise wheatley was just dordling behind him doing nothing.
Part of the problem is that some of these guys just aren't switched on when they need to be.
Another example of not being switched on happened in the Collingwood 50, Punt Rd end. One of them had it around the 50, and kicked it in-board to Thomas on the lead, who marked. Only, five meters away was Matthew Warnock, who could've easily jumped into the space and cut of Thomas' run to mark it himself. Stuff like that just kills you.

His run down of Dale Thomas in the second half (I think) was pretty good, must have chased him for about 25-30m and ended up getting the tackel and the turnover. Watching the game I knew this "shepherd" would be on here, it was pathetic.
The thing I noticed most about the Dees today was how long they take to take the kick-in, they need more players working and get rid of that stupid huddle idea.

totally agree bc. I forgot about this till you reminded me. Was one of the most piss poor efforts of the day even for wheatley who is re-knowed for being piss poor.
The spray jones gave yze for his outlandishly hungry effort in the last from the boundary was great too.
On shepparding can someone tell me why aussie had a free given against him in the 3rd while shepparding for bate? Havent seen a replay on tv yet, but if it was for that sheppard that was the most disgraceful umpiring decision of the year.

If that was the one in front of the members it was a free as Bate ran about 30 meters with the ball without bouncing it, trying to get back onto his left..I was bemused, then watched the replay and thought fair enough..
Few instances yesterday where sheparding wasnt our priority when a guy had the ball..the Wheatley one was the standout, but there were a few others...

that effort was a disgrace on Wheatleys behalf...
Good effort by the boys but we need more than just gallant losses to return to our former powerhouse status...
