Yesterday was what really made me think that we'd be a chance (albeit an outside one) to make the 8 this year. More realistically 2009 would be a target. Carlton's on course to win a premiership before Essendon though.:D
Said before the season the Blues will finish somewhere between 10th and 6th, possibly higher. But we won't have a serious impact on the finals this year, so who cares. Only winning GF's matter, everything else is failure at Carlton. We don't view making finals "success" like many others. It's all about developing this highly talented young Carlton team into a multi-flag success story. THAT is the priority at Carlton and our development is going brilliantly. The Hawks are going down the Franklin-One-Man-Gameplan approach with a borderline stable coach guiding the ship, and financial viability dependent on a Tassie government lifeline handout. i.e. a fragile situation on many levels. :)

Finals? Who knows, with luck they could sneak in at any time. So could six other sides outside the eight.
A flag? They are still at least 5 player off a flag, so at LEAST 3 good drafts.

I would like to commend the Geelong supporters for being the reining premiers and not posting crap 24/7. (Well not that I've noticed)
Hawks fans on the other hand, you would think they've won the last 3 flags in a row, with the amount of crap they spin.

If only it were so.
Unfortunately with hampson thay have a star ruckman already being groomed. Bower, Jameson, Thornton and Waite can handle any forwardline. Cant see a tagger needed with the mids they have.
Finals 08 - 50/50
Finals 09-through Judds retirement 2017 assured.

Ruckman: Shaun Hampson will be a name to watch in the years to come. Huge boy with a massive upside.
Key defender: Michael Jamison, Jarrad Waite is looking pretty settled down there.
Goal kicking HFF: Ryan Houlihan, Darren Pfeiffer. But yeah, we do need a goal kicking mid.
Quality Tagger: Agreed, we dont have one of those, but not that many teams do anymore.

He'll be handy but there's plenty of others with massive upside ahead of him. Stevens and Judd will be gone by the time he is hitting his straps. You need a quality 24 to 28 year old ruckman now.
