View Full Version : What was Lethal doing Sept '83.

Hear me out with this, and then I'd appreciate your feedback.

I've been watching Gablett Jnr for some time now, and there's been something nagging away at me that all is not quite right.

And it hit me Friday night watching him put in one of the great solo displays we've seen. He's in and under, impossible to tackle, impossible to knock, over throwing dummies like a petulant toddler, spinning out of packs snapping goals.

Infact, the last time I saw someone play that was was in the early 80's by the games greatest player Leigh Matthews. I'm thinking to myself, he's Lethal's son not Garry's, but then jnr picks up the ball scoots around the boundary and nails one from 45 on the boundary just like dad.

Then on the weekend I got out the movie Boys from Brasil, were they clone little Hitlers.

My mind's racing.

Who's the father of this kid?

I believe that's there some conspiracy going on here, and would ike Bay 13's assistance in getting to the bottom of this. Oogac or Flawed Genius, can you help here by putting Lethals head on Gazza jnr's body to see if this can help.

My only explanation is that Gazza & Lethal got together to clone their superboy and by using the milkshake method, they developed Garry Junior.

How do you explain Nathan (or as I like to call him now - Danny Devito). Well get out the movie Twins, and there's your answer.

Your thoughts would be appreciated. Please dont just laugh at this and think this is the post of some flog. Some serious discussion is required.

We need to get to the bottom of this.

That's exactly why I'm raising the Ablett issue.
He should be at Hawthorn under father son.

So under your theory, Leigh Matthews is Gary's father and Ablett senior is his mother?

I think I saw this on an episode of South Park.

Would love to help, my grandad had some videos of him late in his career, wish someone would put some on youtube, its weird when people argue he's the best and never actually witnessed him playing, but are going on by stories.

Im not at grandad age, but old enough to have seen him play in 82 - 85.
He is/was the best. Could play as a key position player..see his mark in 83 granny.
Also and more obviously as a forward rover. Toughest player ever - no question.., yes unfortunately took that too far in 85 with the Bruns situation. Although he only did what every other Hawk player wanted to do that day. I was there and saw what went on. Still he shouldnt have decked Bruns like that.
8 best & fairests at Hawthorn during a golden era of superstars and premierships..is probably the greatest proof of his greatness.

My Gary Ablett comments are here to stir up some fun, but quite seriously he's the closest thing I've seen to Matthews for 20 years.

You can go down that track if you like, but how about we show both sides of the story.

jp5tl9g_1ho

You can say what you will about Matthews, however this whole situation stemmed from Jackson's stupidity and a belief by Geelong that they could play outside the rules to get the advantage.

This incident is best left in the past as far as I'm concerned but if you are going to bring it up - at least show both sides of the story and don't paint Geelong as the blameless victim.:mad::mad:

Hey pencil dick.
Lethal shouldnt have wacked Bruns, but I'm keen to debate this with you.
Question - were you at the game.
If you were, you'd be able to answer this.
Who elbowed Tuck in the face, who gave Loveridge the squirrel grip, and who tried to snipe another 3-4 hawks players behind the ball. If you answered Bruns you were right.

Did you see Jacko's behaviour at the match. He was an outrageous clown who basically started all the friction at this game.

Maybe I can move forward to 89.
Who kicked Platten
Who took out Dermie.
Who has since admitted that as coach he deliberately advised his players to "take out" as many Hawthorn players as possible.

A lot of Thugs out there - arent there Kardinia Boy

Yes there are and in my mind Lethal's is at the top of the list. It doesn't matter who did what to who that day it is still most gutless act I have ever seen.

I was at this game with my Brother who is a Geelong supporter and i must say that although i don't condone what Matthews did to Bruns, if ever a player deserved to be whacked it was him. Annoying little turnip he was. Matthew copped what was coming from Steve Hocking and didn't complain, although the arguement could be put forward that he physically couldn't do much anyway but the point is that when it was all done and dusted, Matthews moved on but that little turnip Bruns had to take it further which resulted in Matthews being deregistered which was a joke.

I saw Matthews play many times and many times he carved up the Kangas because he was and still remains the greatest ever to play the game. Tough, skilful and a great leader he epitomised what the Hawks stood for and made others in that team walk very much taller.

GUN! Now back to the thread......

Beautifully put Big Man... not only are you a terrific tap ruckman, but very learned gentleman.

How did this thread get so off the mark. It was initiated to raise a discussion on Hawthorn being able to claim Garry Ablett Jnr under father son and got onto this Bruns crap.

And without doubt, the greatest player EVER!!

And I couldn't give a shit about him taking out Bruns. Hell, I was only a VFL observer, (Go South Fremantle), without any allegiance and I wanted to take out that sniping little bastard as well.

And some of you Geelong supporters should get a replay of the '89 GF and get an attitude adjustment, before you start talking about thuggery.

Lethal was very busy in September 1983. From various eyewitness reports, we can piece together his activities during that month.

He may have been involved in the shooting down of Korean Air Flight 007 in Soviet airspace onthe 6th.

I am told that on the 16th he assisted Donna Griffiths stop sneezing, after a continual series of sneezes for 978 days. He scared her out of it.

Word is he was instrumental in Saint Kitts and Nevis becoming an independent state few days later.

Later that month he assisted Stanislav Petrov avert a worldwide nuclear war, then went on to help Australia win the America's Cup.

He may have had time to fit in the world's first cloning of a human embryo, from 2 male parents. Would explain Lethal Ablett's hair loss at such a young age, all that testosterone and nothing to balance it.
