I just wanna say a big Thank you to Paul Gardener before he steps down from the club on Thursday... You have chosen an excellent coach.
I love Big dean, he talks to the media like he has been doing it for 20 years. He is cool, calm and poised with his articulted comments, and he has obviously got a particluar plan for this club but is unphased by anything the media has to say in these difficult times for MelbourneFC.
The one thing that most impresses me most about Bails, is that he had the balls to put youngsters on the backline, when our coach for 10 years didn't have the nuts too. No offence to Neale, I love the guy.. but he thought too offensively.
Dean looks like he has a blue print for a premiership side and is bringing a new culture to this club and I have no doubt he will make this happen.
Well done Dean Bailey, I love your style.. Keep up the good work.

Let's hope you are right Elias82.
Come end of 2010 and Bailey's third season as coach the side needs to be showing a fair bit because on field success equals financial success and the club sure needs financial success. Melbourne I believe cannot afford to spend more than 3 seasons in bottom 4. Must be winning games come 2010 for Melbourne's sake.
Personally I'm happy with Dean Bailey so far as coach.

The way our list is, and with injuries, I don't think you could ask for too much more at the moment. Have people finally given up on the Kevin Sheedy bollocks? How's Essendon doing in his wake?

He certainly sounds like he knows what he's doing and he's got the respect of the playing group. I remember watching Before the Game and they did that Inside 60 segment with Brock and he cracked some jokes about Bails even when it was only a few weeks into the H&A season. So it's good to know that he's gotten to know the players well, and he's a good media performer as well. Has never looked uncomfortable at any stage.
There was this quality article in the Age a while back about him springing suprise visits on the lads at home and they'd have to cook him dinner and show him around their houses and stuff and it was a really entertaining piece, but it was really good to know that they coach and the players were bonding really well.
It was also hilarious to imagine (IIRC) Weetra and Frawley in the kitchen freaking out over a burnt apple pie they were cooking for Bails:p
I myself am not a Melbourne supporter...clearly the opposite lol. But I do think Dean Bailey is a really good coach for you guys...there is something about him...like this really strong aura that flows from his body and you can sense that he will be able to do good for your club. With Jim Stynes coming in as your new President I can see a very bright future for your club and good luck to you guys. :thumbsu:

Cheers chico, a Richmond supporter with some common sense and friendly nature is something that is hard to come by round these parts. Here's to a cracking contest this weekend

Dont know Merc. I dont lament that we didnt pick Sheedy, but there's no doubt he is still a good coach, as you said, hows Essendon doing in his wake? Very shithouse.
As for Bailey, I don't know how you could say he's been great. I like the guys personality, no doubt. whether he's a good coach remains to be seen. Admittedly our list in NOT good, but it is not as bad as some of our performances this year have shown

I think having Sheedy around the club would be fantastic, nothing to do with match day but being involved and having some sort of input would be very helpful IMO. Head coach would have been a mistake but definitely behind the scenes would be handy

I have a feeling that Sheedy at the Dees would be Blight at Saints v.2. But that's just a freaking afterthought as we got Bailey, and he has been good at not freaking out despite the poo season. Once again, we look to the Clarkson template, apart from the F bombs, he dragged the team out of crud.
We could have got Harvey.
Nuff said...

Guys, just my 2 bobs worth. I honestly think Bailey is the right man for the job. He's down to earth, honest, up front, speaks no crap and I reckon he knows how to coach. He's very well spoken and a great media performer not a spin doctor like our masterful leader at richmond.
I seriously think you have a good man in charge. :thumbsu:
